Site Bot
Article link: Z - Keeping for reference **This is NOT an article! Moved this information to articles to clean up a thread, but did not want to delete said information. Just to be clear; I have nothing to do with the development or coding of AN or Immersive Interiors. I'm nothing but a common mod user with basic computer knowledge. Well maybe above average but no defining skills. So I'm just like you, I download and install mods, then play the game. I too have issues sometimes, we all do. I seek answers though instead of wasting time saying a mod is bad or illegal content because I screwed it up. That's not the utility nor the mods fault, it's mine. I accept that. Don't waste time complaining, it gets you nothing. Well you get a headache. Seek answers, it's much more satisfying. You want to know the trick I use to successfully install mods and utilities? I read. Yup shockingly enough I read all of the documentation before I ever examine the archive. Then I browse through the forum posts, typically the release threads, to find common, across the board errors. If there is a solution for it, it's usually posted. If no solution is available and it's a widespread mod related problem, the developers patch it. I'm aware of all of this due to one simple fact. I read. Now a quote from you.i dont want to learn Wrye Bash. That's your problem right there. You don't want to sew the seed but you want to feast on the food. And it's typical even in life. People want the end result of these great things but don't want to put any effort into it. It's just like anything in life; If it's worth having you have to work for it, nothing is free. So put some effort in or stop trying things beyond the scope of your abilities. Simple as that. I don't mean that to be rude, it's just the truth. I didn't just wake up one day with knowledge, I learn something every day, much of it is self taught. Myself and hundred other players have crashed our install with wrye bash, so we are wrong? blind? maybe stupid and didnt have to get angry Wrong? Most likely. If the software was faulty it wouldn't work for one single person. This is not the case however. So this can only mean folks with problems are doing something wrong. Blind? Nope, just don't read enough. Folks skim information. Stupid? Highly unlikely. Anyone can learn if they put the work in. So no I don't think it's possible to get AN to work without Wrye Bash unless it's the only mod you use. And without Wrye Bash you're going to have problems and instabilities when you have any significant amount of mods. There are conflicts going on behind the scenes that go unnoticed all the time. Yet they can usually be amended with an automated patch builder. I mean would you want to build the patch by hand? You can, but again you have to learn software, but it's even more complicated than Wrye Bash. I don't get what's so hard about installing mods or utilities either, it baffles me. Most people can download and "install" MP3's to their Music Player right? Even my 80 year grandma knows that and email. She can jam out to gospel music and email folks all day long. Installing these mods is much like adding an MP3 to a playlist. You download a file, place it in a folder, then you listen to it by opening the music player and "activating" the song. Mods are very similar, it's just placing files in folders and "activating" them through an interface. The files just have different names. The MP3 is the ESP. Winamp is Wrye Bash, The music is the game. 10 years ago I couldn't make a playlist in Winamp. Just like a few years ago I couldn't make a Bashed Patch in Wrye Bash. But I've learned. Alright enough of my philosophy for the early morning, Gotta run. There is tons of information out there, you just have to use it to your advantage. Good luck to all. **Somewhat of a derailment but I feel it's relevant. Sorry to the AN guys if they think otherwise. Let me know and I will gladly edit. Sometimes I tend to be long winded. LHammonds
I have been around for quite some time and know a LOT of acronyms used around here. However, I completely missed what you are talking about because you used an acronym without at least clarifying it once in the beginning or subject line. Example: What you said: "development or coding of AN" What could have been said: "development or coding of All Natural (AN)" Using abbreviations or acronyms is not a problem, however, it would be good practice to make sure everyone can understand what you are talking about. If the above example seems too silly to clarify by spelling it out, maybe it would work better for you if you turned "AN" into a hyperlink which takes the reader to a place that can explain what "AN" is about.
