My thoughts is for a mod that adds a vault somewhere (Doesn't really matter, honestly.)

 

It would be a completely unopened vault, and you would have the option to speak with the inhabitants and help them spread out and set up a camp/tent camp area and expand into the Mojave, or slaughter everyone and take over, or perhaps intimidate them into having you be the leader.

 

They would have their own faction, and it could even be introduced as a very large vault that could even be your own army.

 

I'm just brainstorming here and seeing if anyone else think's this is a fun idea.

A wonderful and interactive mod idea, I love the basis of becoming a vaults link to the world, like you do with the boomers, but more interactive, similar to a moral system

 

There could be several ways to solve each problem the vault should enounter, good, evil, profittering, intelligent violent etc.

 

and depending on each choice you make you can turn vault dwellers into bandits, or they may turn towards being like the followers, or you could.....well just kill them all enclave style and take thier vault.

 

Anyways I'll post more ideas as they come to me, but yes someone should pick up this idea.

Just found this topic that I posted about a year ago, anyone know if something like this exists?

Well I made a Bunker in Enclave style, all the npc's in it is allied to you and it acts as sort of your own base of operations.

However it comes completely without a story.

But it's also entierly free for anyone to mod/edit, so if you want you could always add quests or a system like the one you explained, or ask nicely if someone else would want to do it. (http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=44007)

 

Instead of it being a normal "Vault" the story could be that it's an old Enclave Base that lost connection to all other bases, and since has maintained normal operations in wait for contact, and once the player steps in, your system comes into play.

funnily enough, I've had Vault 105 on the backburner for a month or so while I'm working on Mad Science.

Rest assured it'll be back on the main modding line when I'm finished with MS.

 

its linked to in my Sig, but for a quick summation

 

Vault 105 is a large-ish vault which has only recently opened. they've been very leery of letting in outsiders, and most of their contact has been for the purpose of trade.

They are not aware of what has happened to most of the other vaults in the area (and it becomes your quest from them to go and investigate those vaults) but they're very very cautious.

the big part of the mod so far has been the entry quests and the Trade Concourse they set up in disused storage bays near the entrance.

The majority of the mod is just being laid out, no details really.

My plan is that over the course of the quests, you become more and more accepted by them and eventually gain your own small home in the vault.

The idea is that once you get in, you can literally live in the vault for an extended period of time without having to leave. but eventually you'll run out of money and supplies and will have to go out to find more.

my themes for the mod include day-to-day living on the part of the inhabitants, ie, they sleep at night and the vault lights will dim in the living quarters, the whole point is that it's a vault which is still very much in lock-down, but is opening up to the outside world carefully and slowly.

 

No plans for the player being a leader or even having much say in the vault's activities. I dislike those mods personally since the Courier already seems to be the only person in the mojave who has any ability to do -anything-....just bothers me that way...

if I -do- go that way, I might plan to have the player continually being given reports and being asked for instructions to the point where they might want to step down XD
