Thor.

Recommended Posts

hi, i was wondering if you guys know of any good whois apps. Im under a network and its kind of anoying to have to disconnect and reboot my modem, just to kick those ip's off, that shouldn't be there. >:( 8)

downloading mods would be so much faster, without someone sucking up my bandwidth, without permission.

help would be appreciated.

Set up a machine between the modem and the wireless router, and run iptables and two HTTP proxies on it --- one on port 8080, and another on port 65522. On all the computers that are supposed to be connected to the network, set up the browsers to use the proxy on port 65522.

Using iptables, force all HTTP traffic that isn't headed toward the port 65522 proxy to use the proxy on port 8080.

You can now set up the port 8080 proxy to record and/or modify all HTTP traffic originating at a computer that isn't supposed to be on the network. You can use Web surfing habits to identify the culprits. You can embed malicious code into all HTML pages that the computers ever retrieve. You can replace any incoming images with ones from any number of notorious "shock sites." You can automatically change posts to the victim's favorite forum such that they're replaced with "HERBAL V1AGRA" spam. Be creative!

After a while, they'll get the point and leave your network alone.

Wow Marxist, you are one evil dude 8) Remind me not to log onto your network uninvited

I have found Panda software (http://pandasoftware.com) has a nice internet security program that tells you when another computer is trying to log on, and allows you the option of letting it, blocking it one time, or blocking it always. It is a little pricey, but nice to work with. I'm sure there are others as well, I think Trend Microsystems has an app as well.

hey thanks for your reply's ill try that out, proxys aren't always the best way to go, if they really wanted to get in they would. Even if there's proxys in place, damn those war drivers..

let you guys know, yes i am under a wireless network, 4 comps not on all the time, service=Rogers wireless modem Ultra 10mb-750kb's, with a linksys router attached to it. For better security.

even with all this, they still get in.

tip change your password.
