I recently got an Xbox 360 controller, and getting it to work with Oblivion has not been easy.

Attempting to use it in-game, I'm inexplicably only able to use the left stick. This means all I can do is move while facing one direction constantly.

I did install Microsoft's software for the controller, and Oblivion is even listed as one of the compatible games.

In Valve games, there's a console command that instantly configures the game to work with the controller. Since Oblivion has a similar console, is there a similar command too?

Thanks,

Hodou

If I didn't already know about xpadder, I wouldn't have done much research. o_O It was one of the first results I found, and it is in no way satisfactory.

XPadder costs money. Money is something I don't have. What I'm trying to find is a free solution, if one exists.

I did this following instuctions somewhere on the elderscrolls official pages a couple years ago. There was info about configuring the ini file to accept the xbox for pc controller. The axis are a little jumpy otherwise it works pretty well. I tried looking for the page for you but couldn't find it. They might have taken it down but I'm not sure. Alternatively you can try this info but I only needed it for Morrowind myself and not for Oblivion: Xbox PC Controller for Oblivion He uses two different free programs to control Morrowind via this gamepad although I'm not sure why, or why there needs to be a .cfg file involved, unless that's just some kind of work-shortcut so you don't have to spend as much time configuring.

Isn't there an article(s) somewhere so that these same questions don't crop up again?
