Koreno
Howdy, I want to make a really detailed town mod. Complete with quests, and new types of establishments. But I am in a bit of a pickle. I want to be able to take advantage of 2 other mods within my mod. They are mainly just for better looking NPCs. These 2 mods are Beautiful Companion and Growlfs Hot Clothes. I know I need to get approval from the authors to use them if I plan on making my mod available for download, but that's not my problem. How can I make my new mod dependant upon Beautiful Companion and Growlfs Hot Clothes without merging the 2 and making the merged mod my new mod and creating the town from there? I want to be able to just open up oblivion.esm in the CS, and start making NPCs and have the races, hair, eyes, and clothes from those 2 mods i mentioned available to use. Any help would be greatly appriciated
Vagrant0
I don't think you can. The closest you could probably get is creating your own unique race/items using their meshes within your own mod, making sure that none of the file names are the same. If however, a bunch of people like them wanted to collaborate and make a single, official esm with all that stuff added, I think then that esm could be used in such a way. Koreno
I don't think you can. So I would merge the 2 mods i mentioned and convert it to an esm? Then that esm could be uploaded as a collaberation between those 2 authors? Then what do you do? Just load oblivion.esm, merged.esm, and my new mod (active)?
Vagrant0
Well, the problem is that you can't. They would have to do the merging and set it up as an official release. This is because of the differences between mods and such. If you did, chances are that anyone else using your mod, even if they did the merging themselves, wouldn't be able to get it to work. You would have to try and get all of them to collaborate on a single esm that features everything. For the sake of making it more useful to everyone, you should probably include some other compatable race, eye, and hair mods. This could be a fairly difficult task, but would certainly be of use to alot of other people.
