mooncarver
ok, I started the game, then quit to desktop, started it again and clicked on new game. unfortunately the problem persists. it looks like this, no matter what race and hair I pick: http://img513.imageshack.us/img513/3784/screenshot29mv.jpg everything but the eyes is black :\
Hickory
Then you have corrupt mods. You need to troubleshoot and uninstall/reinstall any mods that alter races and/or characters, including body mods. Re-download the mods if necessary. mooncarver
well, I unchecked everything but the oblivion.esm file and moved the characters folders from meshes and textures to my desktop. nothing has changed when I try to start a new game. black hair, no skin. does this count as troubleshooting or am I forgetting something? i suspect that maybe some vanilla files are causing trouble. mooncarver
apologies for the double post but I think I'm almost there! I've removed oblivion.ini from my documents folder, making the game create a new one. and it works. no flickering, no faceless aliens during character creation. so I guess the problem is hidden somewhere within the ini file. problem is, far too many mods rely on my old ini, so all I need to do is finding this one bad entry. it would help me a lot if someone who knows how to tweak this thing properly (unlike me) can give some advice on which entries might be responsible for the aforementioned problems. free kudos for everyone who posts here, if thats what you prefer ;) edit alright, I'm faster: I've changed the line busemultithreadedfacegen=0 from 0 to 1. can't even remember tinkering with it in the fist place, but here you go. sorry for my stupidity and thanks for the help. kudos incoming. Hickory
I'm glad you sorted it out -- there's the added satisfaction that you found the culprit yourself, even if it was self-inflicted.
