Neophayne
Hello, I recently have been trying to wrap my head around downloading mods and have learned a lot about them but had some trouble creating OMOD's with OBMM so I just decided to download my mods manually. Well some mods were conflicting with each other so I just wanted to uninstall Oblivion and start over. Well that didnt remove my mods from my computer so I went and just manually deleted everything in the Bethesda Softworks/Oblivion folder and deleted the oblivion folder all together. I uninstalled OBMM and basically had no trace of Oblivion on my computer what-so-ever then I re-installed Oblivion.Well after I re-installed it it locked up on start up on the Bethesda logo screen. Closed out and tried multiple times still did it. Tried fiddling with graphics settings ect ect still did it. Re-installed, still locked up. Tried a System Restore, Disc Clean Up Disc De-frag many things! Still. Locked. Up.So after stress and turmoil I decided to re-install my entire Windows 7 again. After re-installing all of my programs and spending all day of my day off getting my computer back to normal I installed my mods again. Some with OBMM, some I couldnt get to work with OBMM even after clearly making a perfectly fine looking OMOD following linear instructions I found. So the ones that didn't work I installed manually. Well now my Oblivion was closing automatically not even locking up. I fiddled with some mods trying to get it to work and again, got stressed because of all the complications so decided to start over again!Uninstalled Oblivion, mod folders were still all there, deleted them all just like last time removed any and all trace from the computer and Re-installed Oblivion. And guess what? It's doing the exact same thing It did last time before I reinstalled my entire Windows. I don't want to re-do my windows again please can someone at least explain to me what's going on? Any help or solutions? I'm very stressed over this problem and don't see why on earth its not working.
Hickory
The very first thing to remember about installing Oblivion in Windows 7 (or Vista) is that you will have problems if you install it into the default protected 'Program Files' folder structure. The first thing you should do is follow Bben's Uninstall procedure, to get rid of all traces. Once you have done that, reinstall OUTSIDE of Program Files. Somewhere like C:\Games\Oblivion.That way, Windows will not place your mods in a completely difference folder (ProgramData).
