CYBERSPIKE800
I am trying to add DR (damage resistance) to my character in New Vegas and I'm very confused as to which console command I need to use. setav, modav, forceav just to name a few. The effect I want is to receive a permanent base DR of 30, but I am not sure if one effect might screw up something. (I have no mods directly dealing with DR) Can anyone help? vertria
Here you go, a definitive answer: "In addition, DR can be conferred via the console by entering player.forceAV DamageResist xx where xx is between 0 and 85." Source: http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Damage_ResistanceI read on the GECK website that forceAV can mess things up or shouldn't be used on the player. Although, I've tried each command using "player.forceav damageresist 30" for example and they all seem to add 30 DR to my character, but what makes one better than the other in terms of not messing with any other stats or gameplay mechanics? I'm no expert when it comes to Bethesda's console commands, but I think the one you should use is "player.setav damageresist 30". That that should do is change whatever you have the DR set as right now to that "set" number, in this case being 30. As for the set/force/whatever AV commands, you're quite literally telling the game, "No, I don't want you to do your normal thing, I want you to do what I'm telling you to. Sucka." It doesn't surprise me that there is a chance for it to screw up your character/save/whatever. I've had that happen a couple times. Never had to reinstall the whole game and was able to revert to an earlier save just fine.So if you're going to use the ForceWhatever command, I suggest saving beforehand. JimboUK
Use modav wherever possible.
alexjet85
Been a long time time since i used console commands but from what i remember : -the "setav" command set your base value to input temporarily meaning each time you restart the game you must enter the command again -the "modav" command add the input value on top of the base value (it's like wearing invisible armor) -the "forceav" command permanantly set your base value to input, meaning it can sometime break calculation on said value. hope to be of help.
