faction armor all in one

hi

 

i ran into a rather game-breaking bug with the factions after about 50 hours of gameplay.

to be specific: i get attacked by quest-relevant people i never in my life met in places i've never been to.

for instance, i have never visited the crimson caravan, but when i travel there and enter their territory, some (not all) people there are hostile and start attacking, and even chase after me, after i leave the parcel. and after i defended myself against some "raul" or someone along those lines i instantly get shunned by the NCR and Crimson Caravan.

i quicksaved before i did this, so it's not in the history of my char.

 

anywho.

i know a lot of players out there have the same or at least similar problems.

so my idea was to create a wearable item, visible or invisible or a carryable item that'll put the player character in all the factions at once, overriding any and all faction armor worn at the time.

in addition to allying the player with all factions i'd set the karma to a medium high value and maybe set charisma up to 5 or something.

 

 

and now the part about what i need.

i know there are the "SetAlly" and the "SetReputation" commands, but i've never used them and i can't seem to find any documentation that i'd understand with my knowledge of the console.

so if someone could explain how those commands work and how i can set up a script that doesn't screw up the games of those who use it would help me greatly.

 

 

 

ps.

wearable item would be better than carryable item.

a wearable item can be unequipped to end the effect as carryable item would have to be thrown away to end the effect. =)

let me ask you something, where are you in the main quest??

have you done ring-a-ding-ding yet?? if so, who have you chose to help?? because this could be the reason why you are attacked.......

i have done "Ring-a-Ding-Ding"", i have the "Render Unto Caesar" active as well as i have "Ambassador Crocker's Note".

but shouldn't that reset my disposition both to the NCR and Caesars Legion both to neutral?

why am i being attacked at the 188, Crimson Caravan and Sloan (the tiny mining village with the deathclaw problem)?

it seems like all current as well as former and future quest relevant characters attack me on sight.

even sniffles at sloan who's leg i healed attacks me.

i just realized that i'd need a way to override any currently equipped faction armor as well as any faction armor thats going to be equipped after equipping this master-override item. (i thought of a ring, since there aren't any rings in the vanilla game)

do you have a companion with you?? because if the companion is attacking NCR troops or such, it will make them hostile towards you (just like Boone with the legion)

now, these quests don't reset your reputation

if you had a bad reputation, it goes back to normal

but if you had a good reputation (like i was idolized by the NCR) it keeps the reputation

 

unless you are wearing a legion armor or such, or have a companion that hates the NCR (if there is one like that) than i can't think of a reason for these people to attack you at all

 

sorry i'm not trying to make the item you want

not even sure if it's possible, but it's not the kind of things i work with

and i don't know a thing about the new scripts in New Vegas, such as the factions and such, so i can't really help here......

i have with me Veronica, who is BoS but i guess isn't hostile to NCR and i have ED-E, who shouldn't be hostile either.

i had Rex with me to do his quest and i had Lily with my on the quest with the invisible nightstalkers.

i talked to Cass, Arcade Gannon and Boone, but never took them with me.

 

a few hours back i sent Veronica back to the 188, where some people are hostile to me, and i had quite a time trying to get her back without having to eliminate everyone there, because of them shooting on sight.

i had to sneak in there, talk to her, run away and then quicktravel somewhere else.

 

 

 

anywho.

all i need is a resource where i can read how to utilize the commands i need and a little more info about the language.

i haven't scripted for some time and i don't want to accidentally build a timebomb or something. =)

well, i see that there are quite a lot of functions about factions

go to this page, and just search for "Faction" in that page, then in the next 200, and the next 200

this should give you all the faction related functions

 

there are just too many to link here, and i don't know which you will need
