NuclearDestination
I really dislike Bethesda softworks at the moment. Trying to stop Fallout online. Pushing Obsidian to release New Vegas early and full of bugs. Not allowing PC users free access to the pre order DLC after release. Not learning from past mistakes. Using the same horrible, disgusting engine for Oblivion, F3 and New Vegas (They forced Obsidian to use it) Beth sure isn't what it once was.. Some of these DLC are pretty buggy you should be happy that you can't get it. If you think the engine is disgusting why you want to play FO3 with NV? And last but not least why do you think Obsidian was forced to use it any sources for this statement? The DLC are not "pretty buggy" or even buggy at all. The ONLY bug with pre order DLC is that the weathered 10mm pistol can not be modded or it won't show the correct mesh. That is the ONLY bug from DLC. The DLC corrupting save bug has nothing to do with pre order DLC. The engine is disgusting, it was made a decade ago. If you had any technical knowledge whatsoever you would understand that GameBryo is an extremely buggy and poor engine, it's amazing Bethesda/Obsidian are able to make the sort of games they do with it. And for Obsidian being forced to use the same engine as Fallout 3, that is EXTREMELY common knowledge and it has been known since New Vegas was first announced. For a source type it into Google, everyone knows this. It was one of the conditions of Obsidian being given permission to make New Vegas.
CarlBratananadalewski
A word of warning... if you have even the slightest mistake in adding those .bsa's to those text files it will cause major headaches... apparently only 1 of the 2 text files you have to edit saved and my game crashed harder than Randy Roads in a plane... pretty annoying. Just be sure you know what your getting into.
Foeofthelance
Huh. I would have thought simply joining two cells via a door would have been simpler. Put one end in the Citadel and the other in Goodsprings, the way it gets you back and forth between Point Lookout and the DC Wasteland.
dieangel68
In order to do this you would probably need a tool that will compare the new vegas BSA files to the fallout 3 ones, that create a "Fallout3 to NV" Bsa file that contain all the assets that aren't present in the NV bsa files. This would deal with the "assets" part of the problem, you would need Fallout 3 installed to be able to use it (or at least the original FO3 bsa files) Now for the actual game world/logic, we are talking about an absolutely enormous ESM/ESP that contain not only the maps and interior files from FO3, but also all the quest scripts. Most, (if not all) the FO3 game logic is in new vegas, so what really has to be ported is the locations, all the objects (npcs, items, weapons, loot tables) that don't have an equivalent in FO3, and all the quests, and game logics... That's a lot of work... it's more a job for a full game studio than a couple of amateurs actually.
phuhcue
YOU GUISE! Check this out - 1. You need FOMM, Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas and about 5 minutes. 2. Open 2 explorer windows and browse to your Fallout 3/Data directories and Fallout New Vegas/Data directories. 3. Copy the following files from Fallout 3/Data to a temporary folder: Fallout.esm, Fallout - Textures.bsa, Fallout - Meshes.bsa, Fallout - Voices.bsa, Fallout - Sound.bsa, Fallout - MenuVoices.bsa (DONT COPY Fallout - Misc.bsa) 4. Rename these BSA files so they wont over-write the New Vegas BSAs (e.g. Fallout - Meshes.bsa to F3Meshes.bsa) 5. Once renamed, move these files into your Fallout New Vegas/Data folder. 6. In your Documents folder (My Documents, for XP users), browse to My Games/Fallout NV and open up FalloutPrefs.INI in notepad or notepad++ 7. Hit ctrl+F and search for 'SArchiveList' 8. On this line, add the bsa files you just copied into your New Vegas data directory. Then save and exit. (note, also do this for Fallout.ini in the same folder) 8. in your Fallout New Vegas/Data folder, open Fallout - Meshes.bsa with FOMM. (Double click on it and if prompted, select or browse to FOMM.exe in your fallout 3/fomm directory) 9. expand Fallout - meshes -> meshes and click on 'interface' 10. Select all of the meshes on the right and click extract. Select your Fallout New Vegas/Data directory and hit ok. 11. Now open up Fallout - Textures2.bsa in your Fallout New Vegas/Data folder with FOMM. 12. Expand Fallout - Textures2 -> Textures -> Interface and click on 'main'. 13. Select all of the textures on the right and click extract. 14. Select your Fallout New Vegas/Data folder and hit ok. 15. Repeat steps 13 and 14 with interface -> loading and interface -> pause 16. Close FOMM and start the New Vegas launcher, click Data Files. 17. Check Fallout.esm and hit ok. 18. Launch the game and load your save, once in-game press the tilde key (~) to activate the console. 19. Type 'coc Springvale' and press enter. (NOTE: I would advise that you do NOT save your game while trying this out) - Found this info out here - http://www.abovetopsecret.com/forum/thread623588/pg1don't know if its legal or not but it works, you have to have both games so i guess its fine! ^^^^^^^^epic (preliminary) win^^^^^^^^ guess what i'll be doing tonight. phuhcue
ok.. i tried this last night. i might have made an error extracting the files. i couldnt select all of the files within the particular bsa's. i had to click extract all. that might have led to what i had issues with. maybe not.after following all the steps i loaded the game, brought up the console (gamepad players will need to switch over to keyboard controls to bring up the console) typed in coc springvale and poof i was there. whats weird is that practically nothing was theres. thousands of red excalamation points were everywhere. no buildings were there. all megaton was a large crater. couldnt find the door. rivet city was not there, harkness and the other guard were just floating around where they should be. i did find the door to vault 101 but of course its locked. interiors looked normal, but the outside was screwed. are there not other textures to extract? im going to try some expirimentation tonight. Scatterspell
Of all the stupid ideas. It's getting so it's no longer modding just slapping other games into the current game dujour. That's what you get when you give thousands of gimpy losers the ability to mod your game for free.
