1st person or 3rd person?

I'll have to say I prefer third person most of the time. The game centers around the survival of your main character (at least after you completed the main storyarc and the DLCs), so I like to be able to see how it's doing.

 

Also in 3rd person mode I can easily peek around corners and scan effortlessly in any direction. This calms the fear of getting boned by a Deathclaw, which I'm sure EVERYBODY has experienced at some point >: D

 

Most people can't use 3rd person mode very well because the xhair is off centered. I use a nice mod that makes it much more centered for gun use. It's not perfect but it works very well.

When I'm sneaking around in third person and stabbing raiders in the back one by one, I feel like I'm playing Splinter Cell or Hitman : D Good times...

Now im using the mod. I hate you had to aim diffrent in 3rd person. And i like to see my character because he looks awesome and tactical just when i kill someone.

 

How cool does it look when someone is around a corner and ur in 3rd person & you activate bullet time then its slowmotion. And it just looks f***ing epic when you kill someone looking like you're throwing urself to a side :P

I like to do stealthy ranged kills in third person using the hunting rifle.

 

It's like there are three ways to fight an enemy.

For me using VATS feels like I'm less involved with the action and slow-mo brains and what not never really interests me. VATS is like look at these bits you can see that's a bit of jaw bone there look look at it!.

 

Shooting someone in first person is just like most shooters, much less of an epic feel.

 

In third person I can see my character, I can see the enemy and I can see my character shoot the enemy like a total badass and any bits that fly about I'm like "woah did you see that!".

third person...is like watching a character

first person...is "being" that character

i fight in first person, having the reticule to the right of my character in 3rd person really messes with you

For me it's mostly both

I travel in both 1st & 3rd Person

I fight in both 1st & 3rd Person

Thou I must say I fight mostly in 1st person & Travel most in 3rd Person

I like sneaking in 3rd person mostly because you can see where around corners

Also I sometimes Sneak-Snipe in 3rd person to get a clear view of my behind

I agree with most everyone. Combat is better in 1st. Turning while trying to aim in 3rd person is really disorienting for me. I don't travel in 3rd, though. I do get why many do. I might try it.
