Non random magical loot

Most of the non random magical loot items in Oblivion are found in forts. Only one is in an Ayleid ruin, about three in caves and a couple in the wilderness. This post deals only with those in forts.

All but three of these items are only of use very early in the game, which makes me wonder why they are so difficult to find.

The exceptions would be the Amulet of Luck, the Base Ring of Speed and the Circlet of Omnipotence (this has a value of 3000).

I list the items alphabetically.

Amulet of Luck. Fort Telemann exterior. Go to the top on the right hand side and it should be floating about seven or so feet higher and about five feet out from the edge. Don't try jumping to snatch it. Telekinesis might work. tcl surely does.

Arrow of Burning (iron). Fort Scinia exterior.

Arrow of Drain Magicka (silver). Fort Naso exterior.

Arrow of Embers (iron). Fort Carmala and Fort Hastrel interiors.

Arrow of Jolts (iron). Fort Nikel and Fort Scinia exteriors.

Base Ring of Speed. Fort Farragut exterior. On a ledge on the outside wall accessible by dropping down carefully through a gap in the wall on the upper level and following the ledge to the left. There are also about 50 gold coins here.

Circlet of Omnipotence. Pale Pass exterior. A mini unscripted quest that starts in a barrel in the frozen pond just outside PP main tower. There are three chests to be found.

Dagger of Sparks. Sancre Tor interior. Just inside on the floor.

Royal Cuirass. Fort Cedrian interior. Water breathing needed.

War Axe of Jolts. Fort Rayles interior. Visible beside a skull on a high ledge. Probably can be dislodged with a fireball or obtained by telekinesis.

War Axe of Seduction (soul trap). Fort Hastrel interior. On top of the central stone block in the room with the vampire matriarch. It is invisible unless using tcl and by the time your acrobatics is high enough to give you a chance to reach it, you won't need it. Use tcl.

That's it folks.

As all other magical loot items in forts are random, you get the same chance by going through one fort repeatedly as by exploring. Something illogical about that but there you go!

  • 2 weeks later...

I would like to expand this in time to include all non random magical items. They fall into three types. Those which are sold in shops and may, in some cases, be stolen. Those which are 'owned' and have to be stolen. And those that can be picked up if you know where to look. The first post deals with the majority of these as they are found in forts. This post adds the other non-owned items with one exception on which I would like help if anyone can.

Arrows of Burning - a quiver of ten and two lodged in the nearby wall may be found in the Cracked Wood Goblin Cave on the far side of the blocked tunnel.

Dagger of Depletion - close to Fort Istirus. Just east of the fort a small depression runs between the road and the river. Follow the depression south passing a large rock on the left. Follow the rock round and you will find the dagger and other items on the south side close to the rock mostly hidden by the grass. (Console Command 'tg' will help).

Fin Gleam Helm - (a very useful artifact at the beginning of the game) - is in the sea on the west side of the island north west of Anvil by skeletal remains. It is not easy to find because it is quite deep down and the water is murky. I found night-eye helped.

Ring of Destruction (this is where I could do with some help see below)

Ring of Sneak - A chain of waterfalls near Shadows Rest Cavern end in a long narrow lake. The bottom left most fall (to the right if viewed from the lake) cascades onto a narrow ledge before the water runs off into lake. The ring is on the narrow ledge under the fall.

Shortsword of Numbing - Redwater Slough. Details will be added soon.

HELP

The ring of destruction is in the wilderness close to the Ayleid ruin of Fanacasecul. It is said to be underwater at the bottom of a pile of stones. I have so far been unable to find it. If anyone has found it could you give me more specific indications of where it is in relation to the ruin (east, west, close to the shore, in the depths etc.)

AFAIK this is all the non random magical items that are not owned. Goblin totems I consider as owned. If anyone feels I have missed one, let me know.

Are you sure the robe of glib tongue is not random?

I'm pretty sure that on my brother's character he found the same thing in the same ruin, In a locked chest. Maybe I am mistkaen though, or maybe it was pure luck that it happened.

btw, malchik, did you recieve my master of zooz PM I sent you, my internet has been having troubles lately and some PM's are not being sent.

The robe of glib tongues is given to you in one of the DB quests but is otherwise random (you can check it in the cs). It is quite possible to find the same thing twice even in the same ruin (I think I even got three blue and green resist poisons in one cave). I found the robe on one of the Oblivion gate prisoners and several times in random loot.

The Robe of Glib Tongues is offered through Colovian Traders in the town of Skingrad. The Deceiver's Finery is a Dark Brotherhood reward.

You are right. Comes of writing a quick answer! You can't help with the ring of destruction, I suppose?
