OniDaimyo
I installed the Six String Samurai Mod and the sword is showing up as a giant exclamation point with some kind of red box around it. What is wrong and how do I fix this?
FutureVisions
That exclamation mark means that the item is missing a mesh. Make sure the mod itself includes the mesh and then check if the mesh is installed in the correct path in your data folder and that you have archive invalidation toggled on in NVMM. OniDaimyo
Wut? I have no idea what you just said. I'm a user of mods, not a creator of them. I have no clue how to check "path" or any of that.

The path is the data structure of the meshes and textures of the mod. Go to the data directory(its in your steam/steamapps/common/fallout new vegas/data folder) and check if the files are in the correct location. Helps a lot if you have the geck to check what path the mod uses. In using mods for any bethesda game i suggest a basic knowledge of how the construction set works if only for this purpose. nvmm is an excellent tool to manage mods. you can download it in here in nexus its under utilities i think

I downloaded it from Nexus and there were ZERO instructions on where it goes. It has a ESP file and I kinda know where that goes but the weapon is still showing up as a exclamation point. FutureVisions
You have to extract all the mods contents (meshes, textures and plugins) to the "Data" folder in your Fallout instalation directory. Then I suggest you download the New Vegas Mod Manager (NVMM). This will make your job of installing mods much easier. After the mod is correctly installed (everything in its correct place in the data folder) open the Mod Manager, select the mods you wish to use and launch the game. Also most mods come with a readme that gives instructions on how to install them. Check if yours does and read it. You can also read this guide. But I did extract to that folder and the item is not showing up how it should in the game. I do have NVMM and the item is still not working correctly. It is the Six String Samurai Mod from New Vegas Nexus.
OniDaimyo
Can anyone help or not? None of the suggestions work. There were NO instructions on how to install the mod at all. Can't anyone list a step by step thing I should try? I'd really like to have that sword for my game.
FutureVisions
The guide I posted above should help you understand the basics of installing mods. Other than that there might be a problem with the mesh in the mod itself. Check the mod's comment page and see if someone else is having the same problem or PM the mod's author.
