Temple77
So I am trying to complete the NCR and Yes-Man endings using the the same character. Trying to do as much as I can before breaking off for each story line. The problem started when I saved the POTNCR in the Yes Man with the goal of advancing that and not setting off the don't treed on the bear quest. It didn't but now that Colonel Moore has giving me the quest, I can't do it. I have tried resetting quest but it only allows me to tell Grant about the sniper. I tried setting the stage (setstage 00136166 100) for Eureka command but that skips the General and Chief Engineer leaving only a map maker for Legate camp. I get there and kill everyone but Legate is still in his freaking tent which I can't open. I'm stuck so I use the command move to quest maker thinking it might trigger the final fight. Only Legate go hostile when I show up in his tent so no ability to talk. This makes him essential so I can't finish the damn game. Anyone have any ideas on a work around or I am sol and need to go to an earlier save? Man I should have read a walk through before playing the game and I might have avoided this. gsmanners
Using those console commands is really unwise. Most of this game is controlled by variables rather than stages or quest states. My thinking in the matter is that if you start to get on the NCR's bad side, you're basically done with the NCR. Just cut them loose. If you get that Don't Tread quest, your only choice is to go Wild Card from then on. Yes Man will stick with you until you get the big dialog telling you that you're basically stuck in the ending, but NCR will only stick with you as long you do what they basically want you to do and no one else. I never completed the don't tread on the bear quest it just popped up so made sure to avoid it. I have only used the console commands as a work around the game not allowing you to do the "you know when it happens" quest twice.
gsmanners
That "When It Happens" quest is really no big deal. Saving the President has no effect on the ending. It's just a fun little side story that gives you some dramatic tension.
secksegai
The fact that you're not setting off the don't tread on the bear sounds like a problem - sounds to me like scripts aren't gonna process properly. Don't tread on the bear basically means you've chosen to work for someone other than NCR - which as far as I know is a requirement for the gameplay. In order to complete the game you've got to choose a side. Your use of console commands effectively create problems in the scripting - which could have easily been avoided by not using said commands. I can't remember off the top of my head exactly, but you can basically do for the republic part 2 up until telling Moore that the khans won't be a problem - once you tell her that decides you're working for NCR. Yes Man has a lot more freedom and you can avoid officially siding with him a bit longer. Basically you'll want to revert to a save before you started manipulating quest stages. Not sure why you'd want to do the "You'll Know When it Happens" quest twice, unless you mean two separate save games one for NCR and one for Yes Man.
