BobLennart
Something that i have been wanting for a long time is a mod that makes blocking stop 100% of incoming damage. From melee attack or arrow. And not just blocking with shields. I mean any kind of blocking (shield, weapon, torch) So if there is anyone out there who is willing to create this mod, i would appreciate that very much. (I find it slightly unrealistic and extremly annoying that i can get killed by BLOCKING an incoming strike. It makes blocking totally pointless in my opinion) Edited February 17, 2015 by lillikonko
newzilla7
Were you looking for something that added 100% reduction through a perk or by default?
BobLennart
I suppose the difference between the two would be that a perk only gives me, the dragonborn, 100% reduction and if it's default anyone wearing a shield (or anything that blocks) gets 100% reduction. And my answer is that i am totally fine with either. Whichever is easier for he or she who creates the mod. (Of course it would be more fun if it only applied to me. Hehe. I'm a bad person...) newzilla7
If someone hasn't beat me to it, and I can figure it out, I'll make both ;)
BobLennart
That's lovley! I appreciate that very much and i'm certainly looking forward to see the result. Be a sweetheart and post a link to the mod here once it's done will you?
techprince
Its possible but that will make blocking overpowered as hell.
BobLennart
Its possible but that will make blocking overpowered as hell.Yes. Yes it will. It will also make blocking realistic. I have practiced a little bit of medieval style fighting and i can tell you that blocking a strike with my shield does not hurt me one bit. Nothing. Zero damage. And basically that is why a person would use a shield. To NOT get hurt. Same goes if i block a strike with my own weapon.
BigBizkit
fBlockAmountWeaponMult 1.000000 fBlockMax 0.700000 fBlockPowerAttackMult 0.660000 A percentage of how effective blocking is against power attacks. Essentially, by default, blocking is only 2/3 as effective against power attacks as it is against normal attacks. fBlockScoreNoShieldMult 0.500000 fBlockSkillBase 0.000000 fBlockSkillMult 2.000000 those are the game settings governing blocking. changing them, e.g. set fBlockMax to 1 and SkillBase to 1 or higher, will most likely make blocking 100% for everybody and always. a perk solution would only work for the player. "Realistic": I don't think so. If a dragon tried to bite me and all I needed to completely wall of its attack was to hold out my rusty butter knife, I don't think that would be deserving of the term "realistic". BobLennart
This is all good information and i'm sure i could use it to fill my purposes. But i would appreciate it if you told me a bit more about what all these strange words and numbers actually mean and how do i change them? Also, i suppose dragons are deserving of the term "realistic"?I agree that blocking a dragons bite even with a shield is unrealistic. I never said it was. And i would be totally OK with a mod that blocks everything except dragon bites. Maybe trolls too. And bears. Infact i would be totally OK with a mod that limits the 100% block to humans or humanoid creatures only (and skeevers). But unfortunatley i failed to specify all that in my mod request. And out of respect i am not going to ask the lovley newzilla7 to alter the mod so drastically at this point.Final summation: You are correct and i agree with you. Final summation: You are correct and i agree with you.scratch dragons. some farm maiden blocking a battle axe with a fork is not realistic. those strange words and numbers are the game settings that actually govern the way skyrim handles blocking. here you'll find all the game settings there are: http://www.creationkit.com/Category:Settings changing those, changes blocking for everything in the game that can block. if you however changed e.g. the shield wall perk, or any other perk, it would only work for things that have that perk. and afaik only humanoids can have perks. that does not mean they DO have specific perks though. Some do some don't. So, unless you add a modified perk to each and every actor, they won't be able to make use of enhanced blocking. But there is one still easy yet almost perfect solution: give the player a "perfect blocking perk" (and you can set conditions for the attacker not being a dragon/troll/etc) that also sets the players damage to 0 if attacking a blocking enemy. Only companions would still cause damage to blocking enemies then, unless you give them the perk, too. That would be an easy 2min edit in the CK.
