dieangel68
I've been asked if i could adapt my maid outfit to the shojo race, the problem is that i'm kind of a beginner, i'm barely getting along with the modeling and i have yet to even touch scripting. What do peoples want by that? I barely used the Shojo race on Fallout 3 (because it was conflicting with type3) and i am not quite sure what need to be adjusted and if i can keep it compatible for peoples who do not use this race mod. Ideas?
coralfang
As in editing the mesh to fit with the modified body. Like the Type 3 body mod is more curvy than vanilla, so a raider armor for example doesn't fit right and need some adjustments...But its mainly with armors that shows parts of the skin that you can see it. But since you mentioned Shojo, its like the Children mod, their head is bigger than adults, so you need to scale it up to fit their heads. For Children its 1.15~1.2, dunno about Shojo. If you are going to use nifskope to scale it, beware that if you scale and move it, sometimes it can really mess up and the headgear will show in-game like 2m above the pc. dieangel68
Wouldn't the change then be reflected on the non shojo characters too?
Moraelin
Most children outits at least for Fallout 3 were also flat for girls, since basically we're talking 11 year olds. As for it being reflected in other chars: Yes, it does. The adaptations I've seen created a second outfit with a different ID for children. Well, at least the CUTE set did that. So you could have a C-cup dress for adults called something like "maid outfit" and a flat chested one called "CUTE maid outfit" or "child maid outfit". But yeah, you could equip the adult one on a Shojo and get a big breasted anime character, or the child one on an adult and get a really flat woman. dieangel68
Is there a way that i could for example... detect the race of the player and silently swap the model that will be loaded?
Moraelin
Is there a way that i could for example... detect the race of the player and silently swap the model that will be loaded? I don't know of any way to silently swap the mesh behind the scenes, sadly. I could use such a thing myself.
dieangel68
What about, lets say have two identical objects (different ID) and when you equip one while using the shojo race it discretely delete the object, replace it by the shojo version and equip it? It would make a weird sound nd maybe a visual glitch when equipped, but .. thing is i've no idea in what scripts can "hook" into in the GECK. coralfang
Theres a mod for FO3 that makes your char voice use a more childish version, and it had a script that would check every 10 minutes or so if you were playing the children race or not. Dunno if it used FOSE or not... And I don't know much about scripting, so no clue if you can change it to work with gear and if the engine would accept it. The main problem is that when you create an item, you can only set the biped model and the world object so theres no way to tell the game to check and then show the model accordingly. One work around I was thinking is to create an ingestible item instead of the real armor and make a script to check the player race and then hook the right armor. Anyway, Im just brainstorming and I can't really help because of my lack of programming knowledge
throttlekitty
The easy solution is to offer a modified model in the form of a 'patch', for people using a given body mod. This would be a small archive only containing the .nifs that you re-fit to the other body. No need to bog the whole mod down with scripts since it's generally a one-or-the-other situation.
