How do I add gold to an NPC's inventory?

That works... But only in the game.

 

If you're using the CS, what you might want to do instead is add a leveled list containing gold to their inventory. There's already a few leveled items for this purpose, just add LL0NPCGoldMiddleClass or one of the similar ones to their inventory.

 

The reason why you use a leveled list in this case, instead of just adding the gold to the inventory is so that if the money gets stolen/used, it comes back after refresh. All items added with leveled lists get replaced automatically, things that are placed in their inventory don't get replaced ever. It also adds a bit more randomness to things, it would be odd to see twenty people with exactly the same amount of money in their pockets.
