  1. Too expensive. I would, but...Is there anything that's F2P? I have NWN2, but LAN is tricky to set up. ESO Online isn't that great IMO. Way over hyped.
  2. ohh, you're right. That works great! so is there a way to globally force NPCs to be reloaded? I've read about sleeping for 16 days or something of that nature, but that's incredibly tedious to do for the purpose of testing stuff. is there a console command for it? I also next need to look into not giving shields to archer soldiers (and not giving bows to melee soldiers). Any suggestions about that? (i'll probably figure it out anyway but advice is welcome)
  3. Hi everyone, please check my attached file. What i'm trying to do here is modify the levelled item lists for imperial guards/soldiers, so as to hook up a few items which are already in the game but sadly practically unused (two imperial shields and three metal imperial helmets). I'm trying to give a light shield to all imperial soldiers in normal leather armour A heavy shield and a standard metal helmet, to all imperial soldiers in the "studded" (leather+ chain ) armour and a heavy shield for officers, too. Unfortunately i can't seem to get it to work. The new equipment doesn't show up on the guards around castle dour in solitude, and i'm not sure why. I've been sure to add it to every relevant outfit list i could find too. As an additional counterbalance to these changes, i've increased the armour value of stormcloak armour. I increased it tenfold temporarily to check, and that was definitely working. i checked the values on a dead stormcloak. so i know at least that the plugin works to some degree. but why won't my new imperial gear work ?
  4. The simple answer is because a lot of people don't give a damn about the theme of skyrim. It's a huge, open-ended sandbox game. And THAT's what people want. The fact that it comes with a grimdark european fantasy theme is good news to some, and an annoyance for others. Those who are playing anime related things would no doubt not play skyrim as much, if there was an existing anime-esque game that was similar in scope, detail, and quality, to skyrim. As far as i'm aware there isn't, and maybe there never will be. So modding skyrim is the closest we get In short, skyrim is an awesome base for stuff. And that's why people will mod it into what they want, instead of playing a more appropriate, but inferior game.
  5. i wonder if making them drop their weapon and then making them non aggressive (like deer) would work. An alternate way to handle this would be to simply remove the voice lines where they surrender.
  6. thank you very much =) these are excellent.
  7. Hi everyone. I'm wondering if anyone can point me towards a few mods to solve some silly issues with the game. The most obvious ones are: -More gold for traders to buy stuff off you -A mod to respec perk points. ie, give you them all back so you can re-choose your perks. -Being able to wear two rings at once (just two, not 150). And i don't mind if this would be unbalanced, that's what the difficulty slider is for :P Some less obvious ones -Less of those silly essential/unkillable NPCs. I get that major quest npcs should probably be unkillable, but skyrim has too many unkillable people who aren't really important.. Is there a mod that makes a lot more people killable, while still keeping immortality on the ones whose death would REALLY screw things up? breaking lesser/unimportant quests as a consequence of killing people is fine. -Something to make destruction magic more viable. I've tried several times to play a hybrid destruction/one-handed character, and it seems like no matter what i do, by the mid-teens my destruction magic is essentially worthless compared to slashing things. Some overall boosts to destruction damage, especially of the higher level spells, would be good. Each additional tier of spells feels less and less worth the mana cost. -Proper usage of the imperial solders' armour. As far as i'm aware, there's three armour pieces (metal imperial helmet, plus the two imperial shields) which are actually not used in the game. At all. by anyone. A mod even just to give shields to imperial soldiers would be a great start, and seeing more of them with metal armour would be nice too. The Imperial Leather Brigade just doesn't cut it -Some better levelling system for the Blacksmith skill. Maybe make it actually relevant to what you're making, and the materials useed. So that smithing isn't just iron dagger spam til 100 skill. if anyone's seen any mods that are like these, please let me know ^^
  8. there is also that fangirl in the solitude palace. she's inches from pulling her panties down whenever you're around, regardless of your gender. and she actually says different stuff depending on that. <3 shame you can't marry her
  9. i can't quite tell what's different about that mod. something is i'm sure. i've never really paid close attention to the spiders, i kil the hell out of em and keep going >.>
  10. or this. that's actually a better explanation. it belongs to the khajiit.
  11. this looks like a mixed loot chest shared by several merchants. merchants sell stuff based on a tag system. blacksmiths will only buy and sell things that are tagged as weapons, armor, or smithing materials, for instancce. SO i'm guessing that even if all that stuff were in the blacksmith's vendor chest, they'd only be selling the things that fit their persona. most likely the local alchemist uses it too, and perhaps a few other people
  12. what he said. Bethesda fails at balance. I'm going to take a shot at patching this when the CK comes out. The correct fix would be capping crafting skill effects at 100, so if you're already at max skill, taking one of those potions has no effect. if that proves too difficult, a simpler but less clean fix will be to remove fortify enchanting/blacksmithing/alchemy effects entirely, probably modificying the magnitude of all such effects to 0.
  13. the second one was right. there definitely is a jarl. Jarl Elisef the Fair is legally recognised as ruler of solitude. but NOT yet recognised as the high queen of all skyrim. It's not really clear what power, if any, the high monarch actually holds. Seeing as the jarls are mostly autonomous and the cyrodilic emperor holds final say over skyrim. IOf course with ulfric in charge, that would change. But if jarl elisef takes the throne, it seems like her role will be pretty much ceremonial and little else/
  14. Odahviing is moe <3 he's a bit stubborn though. but i like him ^^ since he's already let you ride, i'm sure it'll be possible to do again. gogo dragonriding mod
  15. the only thing this says is that you're not a nice person. Moderators on any kind of official forum are just following the rules laid down for them by corporate. they don't have a lot of choice or freewill in what can or can't stay. they volunteer their time and effort to help keep the discussion a sane place, and you come along being an ass and trying to ruin it. and i am of a different opinion. i suspect many others are too. Your opinion is no justification for making a dick of yourself and harassing people. You should probably leave this site too, because the moderators here certainly aren't invisible. (<3 vagrant0)
  16. no enchanting? and taking the apprentice stone isn't so smart. it's like wearing a big "kill me with magic" sign. can you really drain enemies' mana fast enough to not have to worry about it ?
  17. right, so don't use it for travelling. change into something lighter when travelling long distances and you'll actually go faster. the game already supports this. if the speed penalty isn't enough, mod it up i say. but i'll be damned if i'm going to slowly pace around tombs, barrows and whatnot because i happen to be wearing heavy armor at the time, that i brought along specifically for being in a dangerous place.. in any case, what about the conditioning perk ? until we get some form of mounted combat, there's still no reason to use a horse, regardless of speed penalties. having to slowly dismount while wolves and bandits are biting your ankles is just silly. skyrim fails here, and horses suck. it's going to take some extensive modding to fix
  18. yeah she does make comments that kind of hint at it. like when she compares herself to the vampires you've slain, saying they live in filth and she's more civilised. it's not really explained why she sends you after then though. you'd think there was some connection between her and them.
  19. the main thing you want pickpocket perks for is that ability to steal equipped stuff. The bonus to steal chance isn't really that great unless you plan to use it for an exploit. when you buy training, the gold for that goes into the npc's pocket. the steal chance for gold drops dramatically as the amount rises, and i've never gotten a steal chance of higher than 0% on amounts of 1000 gold and above. That is really the only worthwhile thing to do with super pickpocketing skills. you'll get max chance on eveerything else much earlier. also, get that mod that raises the success chance cap to 99%. 90 is a bit unfair.
  20. they chose steam. steam is good. it was a good choice. stop whining about it. DLC is commonplace in most games now. why hate on bethesda for doing it? it allows new content with additional revenue. you sound like a spoiled child. And, "a loyal member of this site" ? where is your premium/supporter tag? or do you think that the site owners somehow owe you something for freely using the service they provide, at a cost?
  21. you almost sound like you believe this >.> stealth skill makes you insanely hard to detect too. AND allows you to return to being not-detected mid battle. i\ve not quite gotten this far, but don't you get seen throwing big light shows around ? two words. Assasin's blade. as vagrant0 points out, level dependant spells are broken and eventually stop working. i disagree. for starters, alteration stole your paralysis spell. and it has MASS paralysis. 15second duration in an aoe. destruction has ice magic which slows enemies, plus fire that causes fear (while damaging). Destruction also has wall and rune spells which can control the battle arena. That is the definition of crowd control. conjuration has the summons, mainly. they draw attention and tank damage for you. I don't find your arguments particularly compelling. imo, illusion sucks. it needds paralysis back for a start but even then it's still lame. Where is our smoke cloud spell to blind enemies, and hide from archers. Where is our Decoy spell to draw enemy attention while you flee, or go around them. where is our control spell to command enemies to take off their equipment and throw it away. Or to unlock doors for you, or give you things from their inventory, or jump off a cliff. Where is our illusory dragon spell to act as a big scary distraction. Where is our sound spell. Why should you have to rely on being dragonborn to be able to make a remote sound. Where is our sleep spell, to make enemies overcome with tiredness and retreat to the nearest bed (vampires need this! where is our fake money spell, to allow you to buy things for less (or free) and thoroughly piss off the shopkeeper when the money vanishes after you leave. where is our afterimage spell, to make it hard to discern your exact position, and make enemies less accurate illusion is one big missed opportunity. it sucked in oblivion and they took away the best spell in skyrim and gave it to alteration.
  22. horizontal listing of categories doesn't work very well. there's already a mod that implements it. i tried it, and it sucked hard. Especially when talking to merchants, or when crafting potions.
  23. Expanding skyrim. hmm in walled towns like whiterun, i'd recommend adding more children'siblings to existing households, as the town is pretty fleshed out as is. Riften's ratway definitely needs more inhabitants living down there. Same with the warrens in markarth. winterhold being rebuilt would be awesome, and ambitious. Expanding dawnstar and falkreath would be nice too. Morthal is lorewise meant to be tiny, the people like it that way. in solitude and windhelm, i might suggest building up. flats and stuff.
  24. why do i love this thread so much o.o i should go do something more productive :P
  25. Here's how a bethesda artist would answer that question :P Well, isn't that the definition of spoilt? You wouldn't be missing it if you'd never seen it before. you're unhappy with what you have because you've had, or seen something better and want that consistently. Personally i think overall the textures are noticeably sharper than oblivion, especially people's faces and skin. I could see reason for complaint if graphical quality had gone down, but it hasn't. and oblivion was widely recognised as a fantastic looking game in its time. i personally hold that computer graphics have long since entered the point of diminishing returns, a few years ago. the late PS2 era had graphics that, to my mind are "good enough" for every game that will ever be made in the future. i'd rather see better AI and larger quantities of actors, objects, etc. YMMV
