Vagrant0
I vote Yes, New models r sorely needed Did you even stop to think before making this poll? The difference between making models and making textures is HUGE!!! Anyone can make reasonably good textures with the few programs out there that are free to use. Only a few people have the two programs that actually allow any new meshes, let alone have the knowledge to use those programs. This isn't even considdering the amount of work needed to make a usable mesh that isn't a weapon or static. Seriously, what are you thinking? Should I just lump you with the rest of the people that continually ask for stuff, without understanding what is needed, or willing to put forth any effort of their own? Your question isn't much different from asking "Do you think people should sit around asking for stuff, or should they just do it themselves?" WarKirby3333
I'm with Vagrant0 on this one, vulture. Demanding more models is arrogant. Do something to help. Since I lack the skills and software necessary, I've created this thread to help people get new models. Please contribute any you know of. I'm also getting 3DS Max soon and I will learn to make models. WarKirby
sleaaels
Hey thats a good idea! I think everyone should pool their resourses of new meshes, textures & models....but don't we already have a catergory for downloads called modders resources?...perhpas thats different then what i thought it was.Well i doubt The Vulture meant anything bad by his poll, to be honest everyone wants new models, its just natural that we want more. I hope the list of those few elite, who have the resources and abilities increases.Hey Grats about getting 3DS Max, may be thinking of another program but that is quite expensive isn't it? Povuholo
I rather have new models, but I don't think they should stop retexturing either. They should do what they do best. And by retexturing you get better at making textures, and new models need textures too ;)
WarKirby3333
The modder's resources only covers things which are uploaded specifically as moders resources. Most new meshes are uploaded in weapons and armor categories. Also, that category only covers files on tessource. It would be easier if everyone came here but unfortunately not. The thread is also to gather links from outside tessource. 3DS Max is $3495 at last check. I feel slightly guilty in admitting I have a fairly wealthy father, but I'm not spoilt or anyrthing. I plan to become a professional game developer so it's a career move. Just as modding is essentially work experience. WarKirby PS: Contribute links to any models you know of. GBHis
I think people should spend more time on writing tutorials. Spent all night to get this god-damned yellow spoon in-game. Just to find out that I was exporting in the wrong format. D'oh! :) Your father is wealthy? *Sticks close to WarKirby, hoping to get $3500 for Max, so he could start making animations. Wanna' be my best friend? :)*You are so lucky. My father is into 3d, but he's making serious things, not games. Doubt he has an old max lying somewhere, but I'll go ask him nonetheless. It will still cost a lot for most average people ( think $150 to $300 or more, I can't remember). You just have to be a regestered, and active student. I think. thursti
I voted for a yes. But i don' expect them to listen to this. Of course everyone likes new stuff eh? I'm probably just gonna get some modelling program and try my hand at it... Well i have tried but i wasnt quite successful.
SickleYield
I'm a little annoyed with this concept also. Since I can't afford Max - and by the way, many student versions have disabled export and can't be used for modding; or perhaps that's just Maya - I've spent months teaching myself to model in Blender. I've now got ONE kilt and ONE cuirass for both sexes after all this time. Still trying to convert the fire atronach into wearable armor (there are skeleton parenting problems). Nothing would please me more than to release twenty brand new meshes tomorrow. But it's not going to happen. The process is just way too complicated to do quickly, especially if you're starting from scratch. As for the retexturers, heck, I think it's great. Not just because I've done it myself. My new meshes won't be all that wonderfully textured and I'd love for someone to do better with them than I will be able to do.
