Meeting Mr House

I've been really enjoying New Vegas, I'm 80 hours in and I only just got to the strip. I have a problem however, and I'm thinking my conversations might be bugged. If they arn't it is so badly written.

Firstly, I like to do things the way my chars wants to do them, and often go from A to C in order to get to B. After entering the strip, I went straight for Benny, and didn't talk to Mr House.

 

Afterwards once Benny got away I headed to talk to Mr House and figure out how I wanted to proceed, however upon talking to him I was terribly confused.

Mr House complained that I hadnt come to see him first with a one liner, and then it was straight to business. I couldnt ask him who he is, what he wants, anything.

The game seems to be pushing me to do what he wants me to do, yet I dont want to because I dont even know who he is in the slightest.

It's driving me nuts.

 

Are my conversations bugged? I assumed obsidian would plan for some players heading straight for benny, but it seems not.

I'm left dumbfounded and totally confused now to the point where I might need to wipe the slate clean and start again.

My characters goals and motivations which have been so clear to me for 80 hours playtime have suddenly become a unclear muddy jumble in my head.

 

Guess I'll have to try to forget what i've seen and reload to when I first entered the Strip, but doing so is very very annoying.

Well I reloaded and went straight to Mr House and I was greeted with about 20 minutes of dialogue so I could get to know him.

If only that dialogue was there if you went to benny first I wouldnt have had this problem.

 

It was "You should have come to me first! Go get my chip punk!" ... "Erm.... no?" *Shoots Jane*
