Hahaha...I was the 2nd person to vote but after seeing the results, the 1st voter had the exact same answers.

I think 3dsmax is the industry standard in the widest assortment of industries. They also have a huge workflow of applications that are designed to work together...much like the Adobe products...which is why they are used by large companies that rely on teams to handle specific tasks and then hand off to others down the pipeline.

The 3rd option is going to be VERY subjective to each person and it can only be really answered if the person has put in the same amount of time on each one. Then again, people starting of learning Blender will find it was much easier to learn than if starting in 3dsmax and then going to Blender...same kinda goes for any package. However, my choice of Blender was mainly because it was the premier choice for modding Oblivion....and it was free...and it had a lot of tutorials written specifically for it.

I voted for blender in most cases because I use blender and I find it very natural to use. I get best results in blender because in a way it's a perfect match for me. It may not have as many features as 3d studio max or maya but there are workarounds. And most of the time the program should be transparent to you.If you always think about the program when modeling I don't think you will have good results.

I've read a little about softimage which is also a nice 3d program too. It probably has one the best,if not the best, animating features.

urbex, as I mentioned earlier, it really depends on where you are coming from...you just have to try it and see.

However, if you are familiar with any of the Autodesk programs, it will probably be much easier to navigate in other Autodesk programs. When I was installing the 2011 versions of 3dsmax, maya, motionbuilder and mudbox, they all asked if I wanted to use a specific keymapping interface...such as 3dsmax layout being used in all the other programs for example.

Long ago, I tried 3dsmax trial, Blender, MilkShape3D, gmax, mod tool (xsi softimage) and Wings3D. Blender seemed easiest to me but that is a very personal viewpoint. I avoided Maya since I noticed all Maya users having a very hard time trying to get their models to work in games (lack of plugin support I guess). At the time, it seemed the main contenders for modding Gamebyro was 3dsmax or Blender...everything else seemed like a dead end (again, for game modding...not talking about going into professional game development)
