Drasar Posted August 24, 2006 Posted August 24, 2006 I was wondering if there is a console command or something like that to remove a dead body? I killed an NPC for the loot and now they are laying in the middle of the floor and it's really buggin' me. I think they go "away" after a day or so-Right? But I'd like to be able to "get rid of the evidence" right away if it's possible. Any help or suggestions?

SPOILER- Mages' Guild Storyline...............When you complete the Mage's Guild questline, you can recover The Staff of Worms from the main villian's body. The Staff of Worms, in its un-modded form, casts a spell that will re-animate a dead humaniod character for 30 seconds. I know, 30 seconds isn't much time, but the staff carries a few hundred charges of the spell. There are mods out there that boost up the duration of the spell............SPOILERS END
Drasar Posted August 24, 2006 Author Posted August 24, 2006 Well that might let you move the body a little bit but what I'm looking for is a way to either totally remove it or get rid of it forever. Like a disintegrate spell or something.
Malchik Posted August 24, 2006 Posted August 24, 2006 Open the console, click on the corpse and type disable. Body vanishes. You can get rid of anything like that. To bring back type enable but make sure the ID code hasn't changed. An interesting cheat (haven't tried it myself) could be to disable a shopkeeper, loot the shop and then enable them again. Maybe that would avoid those irritating bounties? BUT no one out there cheats, do they!!!!!!! Some corpses do disappear (those in the company that the Fighters Guild have to overcome in Leyawiin for instance). Some don't. Another way of dealing with them is to type resurrect. Then they go about their daily business as if nothing had happened. The game recognises them as dead however. In one game I played the itinerant Dark Elf mark in the DB dead drops was killed by a bandit before I'd got anywhere near that quest. Thinking it would screw the game I resurrected him. Of course when I get the order I am told it's done and I should get on with the next dead drop. But the resurrected guy is still doing his weekly routine and telling me to stay away or risk being mashed to a pulp.

Maybe that would avoid those irritating bounties? BUT no one out there cheats, do they!!!!!!! I usually use Disable to remove rocks, walls, or other stuff that I find to be annoying. I havn't used it on a living NPC for one main reason, re-enabling doesn't always work, even if you havn't changed the ID. You could do it to a dead body, but if the body is used later for anything, this could cause problems. You could script this into some sort of spell, but doing so would likely cause even more problems (IE accidentally casting the spell on something other than the body). If it's a real problem, get some strength, and use the "z" key to move the body out of the way.

I wasn't being serious about the live npc although on the odd occasion I have tried it for test purposes I have not had a problem with it. I imagine there could be though. Is there a case where a body is used later, Vagrant? Most quest NPCs can't be killed until their quest roles have finished. If they can usually you'll end up with some irritating quest item in the inventory with no idea what to do with it. (I seemed to recall walking about with the Rockshatter mace for an awfully long time in my first game.)
cryocry Posted August 24, 2006 Posted August 24, 2006 BUT no one out there cheats, do they!!!!!!! To be honest, I'm a noob of nature! But, that does sound iteresting. I'll have to try that some time. Que hay en tu cuarto? Sorry, I've just been doing SPANISH HOMEWORK! Must try, any who. That was a pointless post that will get deleted, won't it? I did say it was interesting, though. Oh, boy...
