stondium
I'm not exactly sure what mods I've tried that caused this and I'm not sure what to do to fix it. All ideas are welcome. If I start a new game, I'm bombarded by sounds of items colliding and the screen is choppy (assuming it's missing some frames due to lots of collisions). I can choose a name, but Doc Mitchell and I are stuck and there are crates and brooms and other items all stacked on top of each other. I can't move because of this. I can't even get to the SPECIAL or skills selection. New games are not an option. So I found a save right before you remake your character upon leaving Goodsprings. I didn't play far, but when I go to visit Ringo, he's stuck in the doorway with crates bouncing inside him too. I can't explore that area because of collisions as well. I thought I might be able to go to the console, click the object, get the ID and then delete it, but it only selects my character, NOT any of the crates. This has discouraged me from playing very far in the game (I have put 400+hrs into NV previously, just wanted to try some new mods and give it another go). Has anyone ever seen this behavior and/or know how to correct it? Thanks in advance for your help!
Ultraman641
Five years later I'm having that same problem. Anyone got anything on how to resolve this?
dubiousintent
Please see the Nexus "Terms of Service" about not resurrecting old threads. The primary reason is that the original thread participants are seldom still around, and it is unlikely that you have exactly the same setup. Details matter. And we have learned much about the game in the intervening five years, but still: "vague garbage in, vague garbage out".Most of the time when we don't have a solution it's because people fail to provide all the information asked for in the wiki "How to ask for help" article. This enables us to compare between different configurations encountering the same problem to see if we can spot things they have in common. The cause is not always what you initially think it might be.Please start a new thread with the details requested. In the meantime, please see the 'Vanilla Load Order' entry in the 'First Timer Advice' section; and the 'Common Game Problems' section of the wiki "FNV General Mod Use Advice" article. If the problem persists, then work through either the 'Solutions to Starting the game problems' or the 'Solutions to "Crash To Desktop" (CTD) problems' sections in the wiki "Fallout NV Mod Conflict Troubleshooting" guide.I recommend anyone read the entire "FNV General Mod Use Advice" article to understand the differences between this game and others you may have experience with; especially if this is your first attempt to play a modded FNV or it's been more than a year since you last did so. It is designed for someone who has never played a modded PC game before, so it tries to avoid making any assumptions, is kept "up-to-date", and covers years of "lessons learned". It is NOT a list of various mods to install that happen to work on the author's machine. It addresses fundamentals underlying how to get the basic game and mods to work together. At least 90% of everything I post in the "Technical Support" sub-forum is already in that article. -Dubious-
GamerRick
That problem is likely caused by a mod that ends up with its deleted items being undeleted and then repositioned at -30,000 on the Z axis, by FNVEdit's "undelete and disable" feature. The latest FNVEdit won't do this for FNV, because it puts the items outside of what the havoc system can handle. To fix: 1. If you caused it by using FNVEdit yourself to clean the mod, reinstall the original ESM/ESP and run the newest version of FNVEdit on it. 2. If the mod already has the problem, you can open the mod in FNVEdit, open the cell affected, and look for all objects that are disabled, and (if their Z-value was modified) copy the Z-value from the mod to its left over the modified value.
