Animated Textures

Hey there,

 

I would love to create clothing that has a changing texture (randomly or is simply animated).

Is it possible? I believe .dds doesnt include that..

 

Is it maybe possible for someone to write a mod that includes it?

Or is it maybe possible to create a script, that allows certain object to change their texture within the game?

You would need to create lots of armor with the different textures,then use a script to silently remove the current armor and add the other,i think it is the only solution.

Check out the TV mod, I think it has the closest thing to animated textures that it is practical to do.

I member a while back cakester managed to compress video files into dds format for use in fallout as animated textures. So it is possible. No idea how he achieved this though...

I looked for the TV Mod for FO3, found it here and downloaded the tutorial file.

Indeed he used a DDS Converter to create animated textures.

 

I'll try this and keep you updated.

I got to the point, where I have that "movie".dds file. But I have no idea how to implement it in a NIF file...

The Tutorial of that TV-Mod-Guy is only for those TV's and the template NIF that is given..

 

Maybe someone more experienced might have a look at that tutorial?

Find out how to put those .dds on other NIFs like armor etc..
