The doctor who performs the surgery leaves to join the Enclave Remanants and lets Calamity take on his research in his absense.

Confused

Last game I did auld lang syne before Rex's head job

and the doctor performed the surgery.

so what about my game was different from your game

So the doctor reappeared at Jacobstown to perform the surgery? Because I read that once you complete For Auld Lang Syne, you can no longer enter the command room of the bunker where all the members of the Enclave are at (including the doctor), or is the command room open once you have Rex as a companion?

I typically read them when I encounter glitches and try to see how to resolve them (Beagle walking on air in the casino, not being able to fast travel and the game suddenly shutting down, seeing the head of the Legion prisoner at Camp McCarren turn around and around, or the numerous other bugs I've encountered even with the patch installed), but I wanted to pose-pone getting Rex until after completing the quest with Arcade (I'm going through another playthrough with a different faction this time) since I currently have Ed-E and his programming responses tend to come at odd times (like taking a swim across the Lake) and I didn't know if it would cause a problem because the doctor leaves with the other members of the Enclave.

I encountered this and had to revert to an earlier save and redo a bunch of stuff. Wasn't the first time I had to do that but have worked out all the companion bugs and workaraounds (even Raul's got the Vaquero suit) The wiki makes finding a workaround easy so I try not to bash and just point out whe info is wrong which does happen. Also some bugs are system specific so u may never see one that is common to sya the 360 on the PS3.

Nothing wrong with referring to the wiki - as long as the person keeps in mind it can be edited by anyone and the information may be incorrect or simply not apply to certain situations.

One should also keep in mind that certain bugs actually do get fixed in patches so that a problem in a previous version may not experience the same problem at all.
