Wierd Rex Quest Thing...

Playing in Hardcore, Rex dies, kills the quest, whatever...i resurrect him and keep tooling along, only to discover that him dying stops the quest progress(go figure), but i figured resurrecting him and resetting quest would allow me to continue the quest.

 

anyway, here's the progress I've made, reset the quest, talked to the king, go to talk to the next person(Julie) and the correct text option to continue quest does not appear, i have Rex's new brain and i have Rex as a companion. tried it with Rex being fired, but i still think he registers as a companion...

 

i don't want to just "complete" the quest using console commands, cause then i don't get the new-brainy goodness.

 

 

So long story short. Is there a way to reset ALL of the quest events, not just the first dialogue?

well, if you can find the quest ID, then maybe you could set the stage of the quest to the point where you could use the brain on Rex

i can't say it is possible, but it might be

i have the quest ID (1176b8) and i reset the quest. But it doesnt let me continue the quest. it tells me to talk to a person, i talk to them, no option to continue quest. how do i set where i am in the quest's progress? because then i could just tell the quest where i actually am in the quest and everything would work fine.

 

 

i've never heard of the setqueststage console command. "setqueststage 4" for example, or do i identify the quest ID too?

well, i've never tried that before, but i have heard from people, that if a quest is already closed (either failed or finished) you cannot re-do it, even with codes

i am not sure if it's true, as i never really tried that, but i guess it does make sense

 

i really have no idea what to tell you, because if you already failed the quest, i don't think you can really complete it

but if you find the right script, maybe you can do the brain surgery yourself (well, not really, but maybe you can just give Rex the ability the brain gives him)

why not load a save game which sets things before that rex quest.

 

 

a lot has happened since, then, really don't feel like going from nearly end-game to right after i got into freeside...a lot of wasted time....

 

anyway, read through the Nothin' But a Hound Dog entry at the Vault and it seems to have a solution...ill give that a try (thanks aragron)

No problem.And,if you can't resolve the problem,i can make a mod to add the perk to rex,just tell me from who is the new brain.

yeah, the fixes at the end of the Vault entry are pretty much bogus as far as i can tell.

 

setstage 1176b8 30 goes in without error, but doesn't actually affect my options. e.i. still can't talk to Julie.

 

i think what really needs to occur is that rex needs to be...not actually dead, im assuming the resurrecting fails to alter the script that tells the game that Rex is indeed dead(regardless that he's walking around), could be off on that one.

set "0010d8df".ReceivedTransplant to 1

 

are definilty bogus, i tried differnt variations of them as well, as that format seems off. keeps coming up with the "wtf are you trying to do?" error
