laochra
Ok my computer was just over the system requirements for Fallout to work, but when I first clicked on the game, a error game up saying dll files were missing, so i downloaded them and but the in the necessary folders [system 32] and the game worked. Then, One day I was using the Nv Geck and The power cut out [faulty ketel] and I turned my comp back on. Then a few days later I left my comp on and went to dinner, it went into sleep, and when I returned it wouldnt come back out. After a few hours I was messing about with the vga cables connected to the moniter and the screen returned, I was happy. But, the next day the same thing happened my bro, except it never cam back. My computer adept brother took out the Graphics card and divereted the computer to using integrated graphics, and the computer works again, but with shite graphics that cant play games. Im getting blamed for this, but I blame the power cutting out frying the circuits. I want to install the game on my laptop with far better specification [far excedes the requirements] but my other bro who owns half of it wont let me citing that it will break it aswell. I want someone to help me locate what did break my comp, and could the game break my laptop if I have to do something similar for dll filesPlease help me! Fonger
1 - learn to use a quality power filter on any computer 2 - consider using a power back-up (one that works when power goes off) 3 - your kettle killed your pc 4 - consider trying your lappy to see if it works in the first place
laochra
but the arguement is that it worked for a while afterwards. I do back up my files [external hard drive :)] but I have no extra power source. Ur 100% sure these ddl files couldnot have done it, because apparently "the game needed dll files that werent configured properly for direct x 11"

ceemosp
Faulty dll's will only lead to software problems (programs not working correctly or BSOD's ) not to hardware failure.Power outages, brownouts, and spikes on the other hand CAN lead to hardware failures. Those can be imminently visible (pc or components not working right after the event) when critical items got "shot" or slowly building up and thus leading to follow-up failures - as it seems to be the case here. Example: A part of the voltage controller gets damaged through the spike (yes, very often spikes get sent through the powerlines before the circuit breaker in the house flips) and the voltage supplied to the pci(e) bus is constantly out of bounds - just a little bit but enough to damage cards being powered by it on the long run. It is entirely impossible to diagnose the exact failure by these means but there are a few steps you could do trying to find out if the graphics adaptor, motherboard etc actually have een damaged:Reset the BIOS to default settings - preferably clear the BIOS (refer to the mainboard manual how to do this. On some PCs its done by a jumper setting on others by pressing a microswitch)Disable quick-boot so you will get the BIOS post messages. A faulty graphics adaptor will be announced by a number of beeps or similar means (again, refer to the motherboard manual for this).Should the card actually be defective, do NOT use another card unless you have the motherboard checked by someone with proper equipment ( Nope, a computer literate brother does NOT qualify as such :-p ) because the new card could very well get damaged also.
