jzenterous26
Ill start off by saying this is my first custom mesh mod so its more than likely ive done a good deal of things wrong. Basically i took an armor outfit messed with it a little in blender and nifskope and am now trying to load it into GECK. I preview it in Nifskope and everything looks fine. then i open up GECK and try to load in the nif to replace the armor that i edited and almost immediately i get a notification that GECK has stopped working and it closes. Ive tried this multiple time and i cant figure out why its doing this. Mostly because it doesnt say why it just kinda does it.
madmongo
There's a few ways you can screw it up, but one of the easiest is that you exported it using the wrong options in Blender. There's an option off on the right side of the window when you export the nif called something like Use BSF node something or other and you toggle that one way for static objects like buildings and such and the other way for things like clothing and armor. Off the top of my head I can't remember which way is which, but I think it needs to be de-selected for armor. If you get it wrong, it tends to crash the GECK exactly like you describe. There are other things that can crash the GECK too but that's an easy one to screw up. Did you fiddle with parenting to skeletons or anything like that, or did you add any new meshes and maybe forgot to parent them?
jzenterous26
i did add new meshes and i probably forgot to parent them. im not very good with blender so im going to try 3ds max. it seems easier to use and there seem to be more tutorials out there for it
