David Brasher
I don't really understand about compression. There are five choices that include "DTX5." BC3/DXT5 (Makes the imp black like there is no normal map even though there is.)BC3n/DXT5nAlpha Exponent (DXT5)YCoGg (DXT5)YCoGg Scaled (DXT5) The GIMP documentation is broken and gives an error message if you try to find out what all this tech means. ub3rman123
Are you changing that other selection box at all, the RGB one? I just tried the compression on all of my textures and they work fine. I think.
Eiries
That's strange. I've played with all kinds of textures and never had this sort of issue. Wait- you're not saving it with multiple layers, are you? (it'll give a volume map prompt when you try to save it.) If it has multiple layers, you'll be screwed. Make sure everything's merged before saving.

David Brasher
I have only tested a couple of ways, but both times, use of compression made my textures render as black. One of these tests was with "Default, BC3/DXT5" and therefore no change to RGB. My textures only have a single layer. Thanks for the advice everybody! I have now passed up this point in the mod and am no longer looking for a solution. I cut 10 MB off of the mod by using "RGBA4, Default" on certain piggish textures, and then bit the bullet and did an overnight upload.
