Colossal Soul Gem - 6000 soul charge?

Hi, ive played Oblivion already a couple of years ago and somehow obtained a soul gem with 6000 soul charge (i made a cuirass with 49% shield, if i remember right).

 

However, now i started again and have no idea where i got it from. I guess it has something to do with the colossal soul gem, you get from the archmage.

 

Its not a Troll and i cant find it anywhere in the i-net. The only thing i can say, is that its true and that you can catch the soul of the gray prince to get a huge soul charge, 6000 big.

I too would like to use the Colossal BSG that's sitting in my inventory (Mannimarco didn't take it because I killed him before he paralyzed me, and I don't want to discard or give it away).

I still have that stupid thing in my inventory. I wish someone had taken it, it's kind of gross like I'm carrying Hannibal's remains around with me forever.

I think this soul gem is an integral part of the Mages Guild quest, "Ambush." I haven't done the Mages Guild questline in probably over a year, but I think that Hannibal Traven entrusts you to get the soul gem from Silorn and bring it to him.

 

So, if you want another one of those for your new character, you'll have to play through the Mages Guild questline again. Unfortunate, unless, of course, you like the Mages Guild quests. Seems like a lot of effort just to get one soul gem, though.
