yian
Well, you could try disable DYNAViSION, that thing slows down outdoor performance a lot. See if that helps. Edited March 9, 2015 by yian

See if that helps. It didn't help much, unfortunately. The stuttering still occurs when exploring. Is Skyrim just meant to stutter with everything loading around you? It seems like my game is just always trying to catch up when outdoors. Is this usually a CPU or GPU problem? Balloran
your CPU is more than strong enough to play the game, same with your card; or you wouldn't have 60 fps indoors; you have too many things going on out doors.try disabling better dynamic snow, and some of the other outdoor enhancement mods.it Will affect how things look, you will have to find the right balance of performance and appearance to suit your taste. also according to what i had read, AF will improve appearance with a minimal performance hit, heck i have intel hd3000 video card and run it at x8. It may be that you can run it to defray from some of the appearance loss that is going to occur when you reduce the number of outdoor enhancing mods. yian
Hmmm, also, if you haven't tried this already, sometimes a restart of your machine really helps. (in case you are using windows 8, shut down in Windows 8 isn't really a "shut down" anymore. It is more like standby. A REAL shut down for Windows 8 is a restart. My Skyrim runs increasingly slower as my computer is left running, but after a restart everything is usually back to normal.)

tgpomy
But would upgrading to a new GPU (GTX 970) solve these issues? I've been trying to run Skyrim Performance Monitor to see if stuttering corresponds with VRAM usage, but I can't get it to work with my game for some reason. Reynard131
Uncheck your mods and test... Save your cash... I had the same damn issue. You have got something that is corrupt, either the game or one of the plug ins. Re-install all of it make sure to chuck everything.. Do not overwrite stuff. Put new plug ins and everything. If that does not do it a format will New O/S etc...
tgpomy
But it isn't my CPU that is the problem? If not I can breathe a huge sigh of relief.
Deleted5770650User
It should not be your CPU. If you have texture mods installed it would be a wise idea to remove the offical HD textures. AFAIK the game still needs to load those files even if you have replaced most of their textures. How much RAM is windows using when you are just looking at the desktop? My PC with Windows 7 x64 Ultimate uses around 5.5GB of RAM on the desktop.
