adrios1
I am new to modding and would like to know how to export textures and meshes from Fallout 3 to Fallout NV. I want to transfer a few buildings from megaton to make a house in New Vegas. Could someone explain this to me?
Deleted1205226User
First and most important thing: you must be aware that you cannot port (transfer) Vanilla assets from one game to another, use them in a mod and share that mod. That would be against Bethseda and Nexus rules. You can do that for you own pleasure, as long as it stays on your computer. It's good to know that there's a lot of FO3 assets already present in NV, even if they are not appearing in game. These are, of course, OK to use.Meshes and Textures are in BSA (a kind of archive), you must extract them (preferably in another location that your game folder to avoid big mess later). That can be done via FOMM.Once extracted the Meshes and Textures will be in folders and sub-folders in a certain hierarchy.First check if the Meshes and Textures you're interested in are not already present in both game.If not, copy the FO3 Meshes and Textures you want and paste them into your NV game folder, respecting the same hierarchy folder.Fire the Geck and have fun! Can this be done without FOMM, or do I need it to make the transfer? Edited March 4, 2015 by adrios1

You don't need FOMM to make the transfer if you are going to transfer ALL the meshes and textures from Fallout 3 to New Vegas. You just move the respective .bsa files. However, if you want to open the .bsa files, you will need a BSA unpacker. This is where FOMM comes in. FOMM has a BSA tool so that you can browse and unpack the files you will need for your mod. This way you can use FOMM to open the meshes.bsa and textures.bsa, unpack only the files you will need and then transfer only those files, instead of the entire meshes and textures that are used in Fallout 3.
