No nukes?

I have run all over the Fallout New Vegas map, and I have yet to find any mini nukes! I have found about 3 fatman launchers, but no nukes for them. Has anyone else had any luck finding any?

i have found a few in the quarry (where you have the two giant Deathclaws, the matriarch and patriarch ones)

and i think they are placed in other places as well, but not in many places

and i really don't think any enemy is spawned with them

but you can buy the nukes, as far as i know

On my level 30 character, and having explored maybe 80-85% of the locations, I only ever found 2 or 3 nukes. I didn't even use them either. I loaded a save and went through and killed everyone in Caesars camp, including Caesar, and I used them there, but I didn't have much need for them elsewhere after I reloaded.

 

So I guess what I'm trying to say is that they are definitely not as common as they were in Fallout 3.

at Nellis south of the array is a 3 tented encampment where a a boomer with a fatman and 3 mini nukes will spawn regularly (even after death) for unlimited mini nuke madness. I usually wait till I am near completion with Volare! and am idolized by the boomers before I exploit this wonderful glitch but within the real game there is only like 6 I think. Just get a high damaging silenced weapon and wait for the people to go to to their bunks and locate the boomer with the fatman and wait till all are in bed then make sure you can one hit kill them, best outside the tent imo; otherwise you risk upsetting your faction standing (unless u don't care).

Got to one of the caved in BoS Bunkers in Hidden Valley, you should find one.

I've had a much easier time finding Mini Nukes than the Fatman. I only know of one location now where one can be found.

 

So I guess what I'm trying to say is that they are definitely not as common as they were in Fallout 3.

 

I'm rather glad of that, FO3 handed them out like candy compared to New Vegas. Something that powerful should be a rare weapon, not commonplace.

By the looks of it, in the GECK it says there are 11 displayed mini nukes, and 20 users. That 11 doesn't mean there are only 11 in the game, it just means there are 11 ones that are visually displayed (on a shelf, etc).

There are a few out there, but its definitely in short supply, usually found in areas where they'd make sense (ie major ammo caches). They're more for decoration than actual use, especially since you aren't fighting any Behemoths or anything =)

your right...there are 11 mini nukes to find ingame, stragegy guide states the location of all 11.

 

11....far cry from the countless you could find in fo3 :unsure:

well, there are other ways to get them. i know somewhere in nellis there's a boomer with a fatman and a few mini-nukes, if you can stealth kill him in one shot you can get the nukes without ruining your faction. best thing about it is, every few days he respawns. or, you Could use console commands, if you don't mind cheating.
