MisterB1969
For a while now, I have been experiencing crash issues with my game. Till recently I was running with 146 mods!!So I recently sat down and was able to bring it down to about 125 mods, after seeing I had several mods that probably conflict with each other like ATF+UFO at the same time. Or skyRe and a standing stone mod. I seem to be a bit more stable now.. But is there a limit some of you others do, when it comes to how many mods you run ? BigBizkit
I run 254 esps + X espless mods + I have been merging various mods. And my game is totally fine. Conflict != Conflict Some mods may just override some change from some other mods with no negative effects (aside from only having the last change affect your game). Others will be more problematic. DoctorKaizeld
using more mods then the hard limit without compiling them with the appropriate tools will destroy your game... as in you will have to reinstall and delete everything to fix it destroy. FishFiend
More than 255 mods will cause MAJOR problems! Less than that will cause virtually non (in theory) as long as the mods have 0 conflicts. But then the way you have worded your problem makes me think you likely have some conflicts maybe some pretty big ones is anything specific causing them? DoctorKaizeld
if you have any issues with your game make a thread in the troubleshooting forum explaining the issue. i or somebody else will be able to help.
BlackRoseOfThorns
Besides 255 esp hard cap you have to take into account mods stability (some are still WIP or lack necessary updates), compability (certain mod combinations just don't work well together) and your hardware limits. Removing scripted mods mid game without precautions asks for trouble. Installing UFO+AFT together was one of the things you should have not done. SkyRe is incompatible with many mods due it's massive changes to all aspects of the game. Perkus Maximus (from SkyRe author) in theory will play along with any mod that does not touch skill trees and crafting system, so you might want to check it next time you will create new character. primem0ver
The short answer is YES. Too many mods can cause serious issues leading to CTD's. I used to crash all the time with too many mods and I have a GOOD system. However, this has changed with some new utilities. The problem is that Vanilla Skyrim has some memory allocation issues. However, SKSE versions 1.6.??? and later have fixed this issue by allowing you use memory allocation settings that are different from the way Vanilla Skyrim does it. Like others who have posted comments here, with this fix installed I am running over 350 mods (100+ combined) with very few problem. (I think a conflict is causing some minor crashes every couple of hours or so but it is too inconsistent to troubleshoot). You might want to Google SKSE memory allocation fix or some such keywords if you haven't looked into this problem yet.
MisterB1969
Well I run Loot , Tes5, and Reproccer after every shift in Mods i make to my game Just to make sure. Like i got the money for that though :down:But thanks for the answers. Not that I have noticed. Since i cleared up some of my mods, and down to a manageable 120-130. I am not having any issues at the moment, but sometimes the most common seems to be lock ups when i walk through a door.. It will freez-up generally when it comes back in game and tries to save. But sometimes, my game will just suddenly shut off when I am just walking across skyrim. I have made sure to the best of my ability, that SkyRe does not conflict with anything else I got. Thus the recently downgrade in mods, to make sure. But shouldn't Tes5Edit find many of those? And thanks I will look that up, sometimes i do think that I often have a memory probably. I don't have the best computer. I did try once with to fix a graphical problem through the boards, but was never able to figure out how to fix it. Sometimes when i interact with mesh items, they will flickr in and out of existance. I might not be able to see them but if i can hover over the right spot, I can find them that way still. Sometimes they come back when I find and pick them up, sometimes they dont.
MisterB1969
Oddly enough when i implemented the skse memory allocation tips. It made me laggy in the cities. Which i thought was odd. So i returned my ini to its original stuff
