cryocry
My PC is not fragmented and never was also how do you enable turbocashe? I have a GS From what that says, you don't even know what "Fragmented" means for computers. Ah, well, I guess everyone's stupid in their own way, for me it's talking to people... well: Fragmented files are files that you use, but the data doesn't get cleared off of them when it recycles them. Therefor, your computer runs slower because of the fewer amount of "Clean" files. Oh, the files are actually bits of information that stuff gets stored on. Some bits of information are free, and those are used for making your computer run smoothly, but I can't describe it any further. We'll leave it at that. SO, RUN A DEFRAGMENTATION IF YOU WANT IT TO BE FAST! AND DO A VIRUS CHECK!

IIRC, the slowdown is due to the extra commands to tell the HD to read from the various locations. Defragmenting attempts to consolidate each file to one disk location. You will need some disk space free (I believe 15% is recommended, but it might be 15 GB) so the defragmenter can move files around. Some files cannot be moved, but the majority can. Although a defragment does destroy previously recycled files, these files will be overwritten anyway after (possibly before) available disk space has been used.EDIT: As nobody gave a link to an antivirus program...http://free.grisoft.com

Russki Bear
The problem is video card IMO. 7300 < 6800however7300 > 6200 Not all 7x00 series cards are superior to all 6x00 series cards. For the lower end cards to take over the higher end cards of previous generations will normally take a couple of generations to pass. My 7800GT card defaults to ultra high, but I actually tone down some settings in order to have greater popup distances and lessened swapping. In any event I rarely use a games recommended settings.
