Changing the model of a Protectron???

Hey every1

I'm trying to create a mod that will replace the robots of fallout3 with the armor models from the [i Am Robot] mod

But every time I try to make the slightest change to the models with FO3Edit, the game will CTD upping loading the game

Have anyone ever succeeded in changing the complete model of a Protectron?, or is this simply not possible for some strange reason?

How are you doing it?

Creature meshes always live in the same directory as their skeleton.

So if you're not replacing both the mesh and the skeleton, maybe that's the problem. I have never tried replacing a creature myself.

As the armors from [i Am Robot] are for humans, I've created a new folder basically containing both skeleton, idles and so on, from the humans and placed the armors within the folder as well.

But as the crash occures already before I can even enter the game, I think it has to be the data within the .ESP that must be the problem, just not sure what

The strange thing is that I have used the exact same approach when I change the Zeta aliens into Prawns (D9) and that worked without a single glitch

I would try running fo3edit and see if that errors out.

Otherwise... maybe it is weapon related? Protectrons have their own weapon, maybe it no workie with human skeletons. Just a guess.

The funny thing is that there are no errors in the .ESP as such (no red) and again usually skeletal factors or model issues in general don't cause crashes until you actually try and load a save of an area with the creature / NPC in question

So I can't really see the error being anything other then "flag" related, but I'm completely at a loss about which it could be

Think I'm gonna move on to one of the other robot types to see if it's the same deal with them
