BoredErica
Hooray to the mod that deleted my post with no warning or follow-up message whatsoever and think that is acceptable modding conduct! At least I managed to salvage what I typed out, so there's that. Anyways... I still find it shocking that so few people are bothered by the ridiculous level locking of dungeons. You enter a dungeon for the first time and the dungeon is FOREVER tied to that level. It makes no sense and it discourages exploration. Moreover, there is no easy fix. I'm gonna copy and paste now... If anybody can think of an easier way to implement this idea, please do tell. I've discovered a way to remove the level lock but I'm unsure if the change is safe. Even if it is, it will take a very long time to implement such a change because it must be applied to EVERY SINGLE DUNGEON CELL, one at a time. Removing the zone of a cell resets the level lock but also makes every dungeon have zero level cap. There's a difference between a level cap and a level lock of course. This trick only works while the mod is active. If I have a save with a level 10 capped dungeon with a dungeon that has a range of 10-20 and I activate the removed-zone mod as a level 81 character, the dungeon is now level 81. Of course, there is no such thing as a level 81 draugr, but you get the point. But if I clear the level 81 dungeon and save, take off the mod, wait for the dungeon to respawn, and go back, the dungeon is back to level 10, the original level lock. I can see how this happens... The game still has it written down that "Ansilvund Zone is now locked at level 10.", but since the mod tells the game that "Ansilvund the dungeon, is not an Ansilvund Zone, in fact it has no zone", the level lock is removed because the dungeon is not associated with the level 10 locked zone. And so, if I have Ansilvund01 part of the zone and Ansilvund02 not part of the zone (if for some reason I decided to do that), I will end up with a level 10 Ansilvund for the first cell, and a level 81 Ansilvund for the second cell. And uh... I don't want level 81 dungeons. I want dungeons to get capped at its level cap and stay there. The best workaround I can think of to fix this issue would be... instead of REMOVING the zone of the cell, REPLACING the zone with another zone. That zone will be a zone I make up. Bleaks Fall Barrow will no longer be using BleaksFallBarrowZone but my own BleaksFallBarrowZone1, which has a level range of 20-20, meaning the dungeon is always at 20, which is the level cap of the vanilla zone. (Vanilla zone has a range of 6-20, now it will always be 20!) I can't just change the vanilla zones and have the level lock reset itself, it simply doesn't work for any save that has been to the dungeon before. The only way is to get the game to load some other zone or make it load no zone at all. This will still take so much time. There are over a hundred dungeon cells in the game. On top of this, the save from the Nexus is all vanilla gameplay, meaning the player did not star the game with the Unofficial Patches, meaning her save will not have workin Non-retroactive fixes. blattgeist
Interesting read. I am bothered by the lock level since I first discovered it (in fallout 3). So it's not like there are no people who have a problem with it but rather they have not raised their voice yet because there was no solution yet. Your fix involves removing all encounter zones. But what about compatibility with mods, like "Interesting NPCs" http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/8429/?, Genesis http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/67811/?, DFB Random Encounters http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/32394/?, Immersive Creatures, Monster Mod etc. Would they still work? I don't know if removing the encounter zone wouldn't cause unwanted side effects. We would need to know what other things are tied to the encounter zone. tonycubed2
Genesis would not care. No issues.
blattgeist
Hm.. good to know. Hi Tony  Regarding my question:http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/1001625-removing-encounter-zones/ I guess removing encounter zones is not the way to solve the issue *sigh*. Many people have cursed Oblivion for it's unleveled world.. I've always liked it to face an equal challenge whatever my level was.
