Mr Lepidus
So, I have a dell inspiron 530 with Vista home basic, and for the last few days, my PC has been unable to connect to the Internet, though I CAN browse the Internet through firefox. This wouldn't be a problem, except for the fact that Steam and Games for Windows Live cannot connect to the Internet to get updates for my games, either. Can anybody please suggest a method to fix this connection problem?
Qwaxalot
I don't understand. If you can browse the Internet with firefox, you ARE connected??? (I assume you're running firefox on the Dell, yes?) For starters, try unplugging the power to your router, let it sit for a couple of minutes. Reboot, plug the power back in and see what happens. Mr Lepidus
Okay, so I reconnected my router, and still nothing happened. For some reason, Firefox CAN connect to the Internet, but no other program, including, Internet Explorer can. When I try to use Steam it says that either the server is down or my computer cannot connect to the Internet. Games for Windows Live also says that my computer cannot connect to the Internet. evildead789
do a system restore to the time you didn't have this problem. That could be an easy fix.
