majikmonkee
I looked a few posts back and didn't see this suggested, so I apologize if it has been already (on the same token, I don't want to "necro" a mildewy old topic). Don't get me wrong, for its time, Battlespire had some decent ideas, and I put quite a few hours into gameplay, but when you get right down to it, it had a lot of issues, and Oblivion is a good example of what it should have been more like (obviously system limitations of the time wouldn't allow it to look as good, but looks aren't everything). I'd like to see someone try to do a mod closely following the puzzles and level layout of Battlespire, but without the things that made it tedious and overly difficult (or that just seemed unnecessary). The things I'm referring to are: - the hand to hand combat and mouse movement swinging were horrendous, and even besting a scamp was an epic chore at times. Killing a single Dremora frequently resulted in epic battles worthy of song, which they shouldn't have. - The jumping system was garbage. Holding down on a key and watching a little pointer float out ahead of you may have seemed like a good idea in theory, but in practice, well, it lead to numerous falls to my death. - enemies were way too difficult. Scamps and Dremora were bad enough, but when I got to the second level (the furthest I ever made it) and couldn't kill a single Spider Daedra, I started to get a little irritated. This happen with several different character configurations I rolled, so it wasn't just the result of bad planning on one playthrough. What I'd like to see would just basically be the same level layout as Battlespire with the physics and combat mechanics etc of Oblivion. I don't even care if all the same enemies were used, I wasn't that attached to the ones in Battlespire to begin with. Oh, and by the way, the ability to speak to EVERY kind of enemy and NPC you encounter...kind of silly and unneccessary if you ask me. I never really cared to hear what a scamp had to tell me then and I definitely don't now. =P
