As I said, someone who is atleast decent in modding is required for a request of mine. I would like some pirate clothes, and it needs a decent armor rating so its worth my while to wear.

You need a modeller, not a modder. And please, check out this thread

 

Especially pay attention to:

 

5) Nobody owes you anything: We don't have endless free time just praying someone gives us an idea to work on. And unless you're paying us, nothing requires us to help you. So don't complain if your request doesn't get enough interest. Maybe you've got a problem with 1-4 above, maybe your idea isn't that interesting to people, or maybe the help you need doesn't have enough time to work on your project.

Your vibrant enthusiasm does little to disguise the fact that this is another request. It's not a 'challenge' its a 'do this for me'.

 

 

 

If you really want it, I would suggest one of 2 things.

 

 

 

A: Get blender, and photoshop and learn to do it yourself

 

B: Offer money. If you pay a decent bounty you'll probably have your pirate costume by tomorrow.

I'm not sure he meant it the way it sounds when he said 'As I said, someone who is atleast decent in modding is required for a request of mine. While it sounds demanding, I think it was meant as 'I think this is too hard for anyone who doesn't know how to do this well, and I'd like the help of one who has the skill, but it'll be hard.'

 

As I don't always word things as well as I should, I figured I probably should point that out as people somehow seem to put up with me.

 

Also, while it's perfectly valid to suggest doing it yourself, I doubt anyone here is a master scripter, modeller, texture artist, map designer, and voice-actor all rolled into one. It's by working together and filling in where other modders are weak that the truly great mods come to fruitition.

Regardless, as far as personal demands/requests, most modders here prefer to focus on projects that are released publicly as opposed to being private tweaks. If you're working on a mod that you want to share, then posting more about your mod and your goals, and then requesting will come across as far less of a demand. And far more of what most of us here are really about - making Oblivion better for everyone and sharing our ideas.

 

Vagrant pointed that out to me, although far more subtly. (And of course, I didn't recognize it right away. :/ ) I should probably keep that in mind next time I ask for help, myself.

 

It is far more satisfying to be the part of a greater effort to make the game better, than it is to be an on-call modelling, scripting, etc drudge. If you think about that, I'm sure you can appreciate the magnitude of the difference.

 

I can't help you with your request, regardless, as I simply don't have the skill anymore than you do. I'd suggest taking future requests like this to an existing ideas thread instead, where people looking for a small project to contribute to would find it. More advice of my own that I should take. :P
