majikmonkee
It's long been my dream to do something worthwhile with my voice. I've been told in the past on several occasions that I need to be working in radio but I've never pursued that as a professional career. I've done voice acting for some Wolfenstein 3D mods but that was pretty minimal. I would really like to help if possible with any projects in need of voice acting, free of charge of course. I'm thinking of putting together a page with some clickable sound bite links of me doing a few lines from the actual Oblivion as my "references" if you will. I'm 35 but can do a convincing older male voice as well. I can do voices similar to the Oblivion Bretons and Imperials, decent versions of the elves, and the Argonian is probably my best of the bunch. I can also do a fairly good Khajiit, however, my Orc is laughable. Of course, I can do voices that resemble none of the above as well. I'm not trying to toot my own horn, I just want to help and I don't have time for writing or coding or anything. I hope to get some voice samples up as soon as I'm over a cold and buy a decent mic. jaysus
what kind of recording equipment do you have available to you?
majikmonkee
Unfortunately none at the moment, I'm waiting to hear back from a friend of mine who's an independent film maker, he's offered to loan me some suitable recording equipment. Currently I just have my PC/headset but it's not the best of quality.
jaysus
well a headset is simply of no use to keep immersion intact, the quality should really match that of vanilla sound files or its kinda pointless, you add voices for an increased immersion factor afterall... however if you can get your hands on that equipment of your friend i will surely need voiceactors soon for my current Fallout:New Vegas Project, some sound snippets to check out your voice would be a nice too so that i know for which character they will be useful
majikmonkee
I agree...the headset won't do, even in optimal conditions there is too much feedback unless there's heavy editing done on the sound bytes, and I'd rather have the quality be good just from the get-go. The companion I earned from my very favorite mod has an echo to her voice that always drove me nuts. I'm not sure if the author of the mod had all his actors using different equipment, but it's always a little jarring when she talks (sad too, she seems to have a nice voice, it just sounds like she's talking in a small room with an echo). My friend is at some sort of film society get together this weekend but we should be getting together early this week, I'd like to get the voice samples ready.
