daggs
I've noted a few Conan mods running around, as well as some other mods that fall into the category of old school Sword and Sorcery flicks and books (Howard, Wagner...the oldies but goodies) though I myself am a terrible modder, I can't script to save my life, I'm lousy with the land editor, and to be honest I'm still trying to figure out the whole "Mod" making thing; I'd love to be part of such a mod. I have what I hope is a fairly large imagination, I've got quite a few ideas for a world and a setting...however as I said no way to execute it. The plan would fall into simple steps. (Mind you this is considering anyone is interested at which point we'll cover the main details) 1: Actually Design the terrain (why everyone builds models and cities first I do not know) 2: Assign out the boring tasks of building interiors, designing new models, building the world (we can re-use certain items that fit the Sword and Sorcery mode) 3: Considering that no one has decided it's a stupid or fruitless idea by this point we begin making races, kingdoms, storylines, quests, and deciding if there really is life after Tivo.... 4: After serious testing, tweaking, re-finishing, head-butting, alcholism, drug addiction, and a potential vocariously shared ulcer we might, just might possible have a decent (let's hope for awesome) conversion mod. This mod would involve a totally new land, quests, races, nothing Oblivion related, we'll need to record new voice-overs, all that hoopla, I'd love the possibility to have multiple paths without any END-quest so to speak. One might become a mercenary and end up leading his own army, one might become a rebel and overthrow a kingdom and then lead said Kingdom in a conquest against his neighbours, one might practice the dark arts of magic and attempt to rule the world through Sorcery, one might very well be a pirate, warrior, priest, wanderer, hero, villan, or any number of things and still feel like the world itself is limitless. If you are interested feel free to e-mail me, if you think it's stupid I can send you my address and you can pummel me with rocks, dung, and sharp objects. If you think I can't contribute without any real modding skills and that an idea man isn't worth two cents...tell me so....I can always find your address and pummel you with rocks, dung, and sharp objects. WarKirby3333
Alright. "I have a great idea but no modding skill whatsoever." do you know how many of these we see? Find a few tutorials and learn. I learned half of what I know now in one day of reading tutorials and practising. I fail to seee the point in this. Oblivion is swords and sorcery. A total conversion involves something new, not just a slightly different flavor of oblivion. Kudos for your relatively mature attitude, and perfect grammar, but a decent TC takes a year or so. Why would anyone devote a year of their lifde to turning a swords and sorcery game into...a swords and sorcery game? If you think step 2 is boring, then just forget it. If you don't enjoy modding, you'll never accomplish much in it. You're asking for a huga amount of work, and you have nothing to bring to the project yourself. sleaaels
A total conversion of the original to something similar? I think you may find difficult to get people on the bandwagon. Lot of people have been saying to: "Start something small if your not exprienced." If you have a portfolio then you have a leg to stand on, and people might actually join you with creating a major mod.

I appreciate the honesty, I feel that way as well, however you never know...I may try later on if I ever figure out the damn scripting. As for modeling? An artist I am not. I considered Arena and Daggerfall to be Sword and Sorcery; they were gritty, adult, violent, and had an almost mythic quality to them and Oblivion is an excellent nod in that direction...just wish it was made a little more Grown-Up than it is. As for the Mature attitude and the Grammar? I'm 23...I sure hope everyone else my age would act accordingly.

daggs
I considered Arena and Daggerfall to be Sword and Sorcery; they were gritty, adult, violent, and had an almost mythic quality to them and Oblivion is an excellent nod in that direction...just wish it was made a little more Grown-Up than it is. In what way is Oblivion not grown up enough? WarKirby As much of a cretin as it makes me sound one of the most refreshing things about Daggerfall was that it threw off the current taboo of nudity in the game (if you play with the old school editors that you can download for it the prostitutes were their own faction), the chapel of the Goddess of love had what almost appeared to be a full fledged orgy going on, so did many various guilds...it just seemed grittier, darker even. The graphics are now dated but it possesed things like torture devices and multilated corpses (left out of Morrowind but added to Oblivion), to me it made the game all the more realistic. I don't get my jollies off of nudity or gore in a game, in fact I loathe games that use nudity as a lure for gamers and I loathe said gamers who flock to such games even more. However if the nudity or gore helps add to the immersion and enhances the game itself than there is every reason to add it. A perfect example is comparing Daggerfall to Morrowind....if you've played Daggerfall then you know that it's a moot point to compare them. Morrowind in all honesy sucked, convinced me that perhaps the series was dead, and now Oblivion has restored my hope for what I once considered the greatest RPG series ever concieved.
