Sunjah
I hope someone can help me here. I just reinstalled TES IV after about 2 years of not playing. I love all the mods I have, everything appears to be working, EXCEPT: the messages in the upper left corner of the HUD, the "autosaving", "you have discovered..." , "you are hungry", time announcements, all of that information stuff that I want is simply gone. I hear the clock tick, but get no time display. I hear the drinking, but no "you are not thirsty" or "you are stuffed" messages. I like those messages and feel shorthanded without them. I have between 50-100 mods and no idea which one has set it this way. Is it possible to make a mod that simply "TURNS ON" all messages in the upper-left, or is there someone to identify what controls it (eg, hud_mainmenu_config.xml)? I am going crazy missing all that information! Thanks in advance,Jason
majikmonkee
"You are hungry"? I'm guessing that's part of a mod, I don't get that one. That's kind of odd, though, it does sound like some sort of a mod conflict there. I didn't see any existing mods dealing with fixing this.
Deleted1662706User
Can you list your Mod load order? That way, we might be able to identify what the problem is.

Sure, here it is (a quick count gave me 107):(also, does anyone know what directly controls that particular item, such as "setting" in menu folder can allow you to change the color of on-screen text...I would love to know what commands the "Notifications" because if I had to I could go mod by mod and check for that command to activate it) Oblivion.esm AWS-Core.esm Oscuro's_Oblivion_Overhaul.esm Mart's Monster Mod.esm Mart's Monster Mod for OOO.esm Better Cities Resources.esm Open Cities Resources.esm HorseCombatMaster.esm Cobl Main.esm Unofficial Oblivion Patch.esp UOP Vampire Aging & Face Fix.esp Oblivion Citadel Door Fix.esp DLCShiveringIsles.esp Unofficial Shivering Isles Patch.esp Shivering Isles - Sunjah
hudsubtitlemenu_config.xml When I removed literally everything, I found that this menu was the one controlling those messages in the upper left. Then I reinstalled all the menus the way I want, then this one, and there were NO messages in the upper left. Mostly, I have real thirst, hunger and sleep, and I never know WHEN I am TIRED, HUNGRY or THIRSTY! I am starting to get so pissed with this. Somewhere, somehow, in some way, some (beep) altered this without saying how or why, and now they are blocked. ALL I WANT IS THE BLOODY DAMNED MESSAGES THAT TELL YOU INFORMATION YOU NEED. I don't care if it bugged someone else, don't turn off VITAL information and not tell anyone. Edited November 28, 2010 by Sunjah
Smooth613
I personally think it's more to do with the order you are installing mods that might alter that menu. Remember the last mod you install "wins". Something is most likely overwriting the changes that should be made by these mods, or you installed them incorrectly. I use Real Sleep Extended and it works just fine. I've also used other hunger and thirst mods that have worked fine with over 200 other mods installed, including UI mods like DarNified. I'm fairly confident that "Somewhere, somehow, in some way, some (beep) altered this without saying how or why, and now they are blocked." is Sunjah screwing up the installation. I could be wrong but I highly doubt it since these mods haven't changed in ages. FF Real Thirst: Hasn't changed since 2007Real Hunger: Hasn't changed since 2006Real Sleep: Hasn't changed since 2006So the only other possibility for why it's not working properly? User error. So next time before you childishly lash out at others you may want to put yourself in check first. Also, you have Cobl installed so why not use the Cobl versions? Sunjah
Hey, that's great. A really frustrated person, and you respond by insulting and blaming. Why did you answer the stupid thing if all you were going to do was be an ass? I found a post by "Darn" (yes, THE DARN, on his own forum) that explained exactly what the problem was, in one of his *.xml file there was a spot where he said to turn shadows false. Guess what, it worked! Everything is fine now, so I will take the 3 insults and 2 judgemental accustations and shove them in the toilet, which is where they belong. I'll never understand why idiots like you feel it is okay to come to something they are VOLUNTEERING to do (no one asked you for your horrible response), and then act like a complete moron. One thing, game fixed, everything is fine. Second thing, you are and will always still be an ass!
Smooth613
I can overlook your insults, no big deal. I didn't insult or necessarily "blame" you. However I did state what I thought the problem was. That's what you came here for right? A solution? I'm not going to bicker back and forth with you on each comment you just made. It's not worth it. I will only make a few statement regarding the issue. It turned out I was correct in my first few statements.I personally think it's more to do with the order you are installing mods that might alter that menu. Remember the last mod you install "wins". Something is most likely overwriting the changes that should be made by these mods, or you installed them incorrectly. So it was your mistake by overwriting the menu(s) placed by the "Realism" mod(s) with DaN's. Or, as you found out, you need to tweak the settings if you use DarN's UI. So a "conflict" occurred. Tweaking settings is common practice to achieve compatibility with multiple UI altering mods. We've all screwed up an installation of a mod at least once, probably many more times, or made simple user errors. Either way you solved the problem by correcting mistakes. It happens to all of us, move on.
chakaru11
Whoa. Yes, the guys here (me included, I tend to help out too) are doing this voluntarily, that is right. But if anyone caused the shift in atmosphere from helpful to annoyed it was YOU with that childish tantrum in the post after your load order. Pointing fingers and ranting about "someone changing something without telling you" and venting your anger here like it is OUR fault does NOT make people want to help you! I totally get that you were pissed off, Oblivion hacks itself to pieces on a weekly basis. But is it too much to ask to maybe vent your anger elsewhere BEFORE you post here? Nobody here really insulted you, everything that was posted was a reaction to your tantrum. Mods that have not been edited since 2006 don't suddenly change just to piss you off and Smooth613 was totally right to assume that it might be your load/installation order screwing something up. He never accused you of anything, YOU were pointing fingers. Which is kind of ironic, because after you found out that it way really YOU who overwrote the menus because of a mod conflict (which means that Smooth was RIGHT) you were still raging like a 10 year old, accusing him of insulting you. Way to go. I'll never understand how idiots like you can act like that and still think they are right AND expect people to help them. Grow up!
