majikmonkee
"That's...a man's...head..." James West in Wild Wild West I just started using DR yesterday, just getting a feel for a lot of the moves. I have a couple of questions related to things I was playing around with yesterday, kind of odd questions, I know but here goes. - when I decapitate someone, are the head and the body treated as containers still? If so, are they the same container? I did manage to do this a few times yesterday but I never thought to click on the head to see if you could put stuff in it. My reason for doing this would be to store loot in the body near the start of a dungeon, then "grab" the head and carry it with me to add loot to then drop it and take the loot out of the body back at the entrance of the dungeon. - is there a limit to how far away from the actual body I can carry a head? I noticed that instead of treating it as a small, light object, the grab function makes it rather difficult to carry heads around. I'm sure there are a lot of factors involved in even allowing decapitations, so I'm not about to nitpick about this. Isn't it a shame that you can't add heads as items to your inventory? Just imagine how nice houses all across Cyrodiil would look with a nice head collection adorning the shelves of the various book and display cases. Granted then the game would have to remember the individual face of every head you carried, but we can dream, right? Smooth613
I'm just going to be brief with this answer. No. You cannot use them as containers. The reason you noticed it is hard to move, or carry the head around, is because it's actually a full body but only the head is visible. This is a "hidden mechanic" of how Skycaptain was able to achieve the decapitation feature. Since you can't exactly "break" meshes another creative solution had to be found to give the illusion of decapitation. Creating a full actor clone with an invisible body was the solution. majikmonkee
Ahah...that's a pretty brilliant way to simulate that. I was wondering why all of the heads weighed in excess of 150lbs. I still stand by my earlier statement though, it would be nice if you could "pick up" the cloned body that just looks like a head and save it as a trophy. I'll just have to accept though that I can't play kickball with the severed heads and just enjoy the gorey glory.
