Dwarven armor/weapons, but no Dwarves?

There's Dwarven armor in the game, not Dwemer, but Dwarven.

 

Is Dwarven another word for Dwemer, or have Dwarves not been introduced to lore aside from armor?

That's right, Dwarven armor is dwemer armor, as lore states. Essentially, Dwarven equipment is dwemer stuff that's been melted down into armor for use by the public, the original shape of these things having been magical steam tech.

 

I don't remember precisely what happened with them, but I recall that the Dwemer (Deep Elves, ironically enough) used a puzzle box to piss off azura, and now they are no more. there's a lot more info about them in morrowind, but I just can't seem to recall it right now

The greatest consensus on the disappearance of the Dwemer (Dwarves) is that at the end of the War of the First Council, the dwemer Kagrenac attempted to use his tools with the Heart of Lorkhan in Red Mountain to deliver his race to immortality. What happened to them next, nobody knows; they simply vanished, every last one of them.

This being the case, would they have actually needed bows for any reasons? The case of the "Dwarven Bow" has always confused me.

The only known living dwarf is a cyborg found in the TES III.
