robedits
SORRY...I'VE CROSS {POSTED THIS OUT OF DESPERATION}I've been running OBLIVION for a few months now, brand new Dell rig, running Win XP SPack 2,latest greatest vid card (ATI 1900X),latest audio/video drivers, etc etc. Have not had any problems per se.All of a sudden, after installing a few mods yesterday, most of the colors in my game are swatches of purple...mostly the weaving grass.I've been running dozens of non-conflicting mods for a few months,as well.Mods installed were "oblivion earth Mod" (puts earth in the sky at night) and "Alive Waters",both of which replaced textures, etc. The game ran perfectly fine UNTIL I installed those 2 mods.Naturally,I did not back up my data folder before replacing some of the files, which I was prompted to do when installing these 2 mods. Lazy me.No other games are giving me this problem with color blotches,so its not my vid card. System restore also did not work.I'm stuck with the game looking horrible due to 2 bad or conflicting mods.Suggestions, anything other than uninstalling and reinstalling the game, and replugging in the dozens of mods I have running? Unchecking the 2 mods in the data file when starting up the game also does not help...even earlier saved games have this purple-color bllothciness now. Really sucks. HELP![email protected]

HELP![email protected] The mods either overwrote your existing textures and meshes with bad ones, or else they were not placed in the correct area in your data folder structure. Are you using OBMM to install mods? If not, I highly recommend it; it's MUCH easier to assure the files all go in the proper places. OBMM lets you see all the data files, and their relative paths - it should be fairly simple by looking at the archive's relative paths and comparing that to your data\meshes and data\textures folders to find which are the offending files. You can then either move them to the correct location, or extract the originals from the BSA. If there's anything here that you don't understand, I'm happy to help; PM me. robedits
thanks SO much for responding. I reinstalled and re-modded my game (imagine how long THAT took, what with several dozen or so mods to unzip and reinstall!) this evening. It appeared that there was a mesh duplicate folder, which I deleted...and everything was fine. No more blocky colors. UNTIL....I got to this place called "forsaken village of blahblah" near the Nidinay(??) valley. Some low-rez video played showing some ghosty images.Game crashed, blue screen of death, saying I had an"error with ATI3DUAG.DLL". PC began memory dumping, etc etc. I rebooted. Restarted the game, and I am going nowhere NEAR this place on the map again. This SEEMS to be a mod,but Lord knows I cant find any "forsaken village" mod anywhere that I've downloaded or quested to map-marker this place. I'm pretty sure the "village" is a mod,as the low-rez video ,which is pretty bad, cannot be part of the game experience (can it? I'm running everything hi-rez).Well,sorry,my friend, lots of questions here. I know my rig can handle whatever this hog throws at me,but it IS taxing, and I DO know this game blew out (overheated) the card from my LAST computer ;-(I seem to remember that I was in the same place in the game yesterday when the same thing happen, which lead to the purple colors.Any ideas?again, thanks.rob NYC
Michelene
...I got to this place called "forsaken village of blahblah" ...Game crashed, blue screen of death...Any ideas? The village you describe might be part of the Unique Landscapes: The Dark Forest mod - just a hunch, as your earlier post indicated you were having trouble with grass, and this mod also has a forsaken village (Lorikh)... does that sound familiar? I don't use this mod myself, so I can't say for sure what it's supposed to look like, or what it might conflict with... I'd check the readme, or the comment section on this site about it. I could be wrong though, and it's some other mod, or not a mod at all that's causing this - A BSOD is not always an indication of a conflicting mod. You might consider disabling all of your mods and going into the game 'vanilla' to see if the village/problem is still there. If not, all is cool, just enable your mods one at a time until you find the offender. Often, it's just load order causing a conflict, and rearranging this order can fix the prob. You didn't say if you had OBMM - if you do, all of these procedures are very easy to do from within the application, you can even test for conflicts before activating mods. If you don't have OBMM, here. Hope this helps.

NOw that I've unchecked this mod,the freak village is no longer there, and therefore no more splotchy colors. I hate it that this mod caused so much downtime for me,but apparently noone else was having the same probs with it...or at least they never posted problems with it. NO other mod has given me the blue screen (darn BSD always scares the piss out of me).I do sometimes use OBMM,but a problem arises from time to time:How does one revert to PREVIOUS meshes/textures (etc) after unchecking a particular mod that had revised or added to those folders? Can't get a handle on this one.anyway, thanks you've been helpful.I think I've had enough with Oblivion and before it ruins my new computer as well I'll probably be uninstalling it so I'm not tempted to continue modding it to death and therefore causing more PC heartaches...CheersRob in NYC
