McclaudEagle
I think on a moral basis, the difference is that a Raider has the knowledge and an idea on what is likely to happen to him/her if they attack. However, just like real life, animals lack that knowledge, which is why you'll see some animals attack a gunman only to be shot dead. With that in mind, the Raider has the choice and the chance, but that Mole Rat doesn't.
Spysix
I was aiming for this thread to go into a "poor cute little animals" but somehow it took a moral philosophy route...weird.
MithrilHound
I love killing animals in fallout. Just think of how bad they would smell, you will get over any qualms you have. Trust me.

phaz
"I think on a moral basis, the difference is that a Raider has the knowledge and an idea on what is likely to happen to him/her if they attack." Which is why they'd happily charge at you with a golf club when you're 100 meters away picking off their friends with a sniper rifle :D
dancuc
Yea, there was a good mod for it in Fallout 3, so they weren't attacking you if they saw they had no chance. :wallbash:

DocSeanson
I have to argue the Animal Freind perk's usefulness. Nightstalkers are bad and the first time I walks around a cave full of those hissing buggers and they did not attack I was still paranoid, most of everything else is a wast of ammo unless you need the meat. Also not having to worry about those lesser creatures getting in on your fight with a much more dangerous creature. Yes, I was killed by a mole rat pup while running/healing from a deathclaw. Ran right into a small herd of the oversized hamsters praying for the deathclaw to get caught up. It was only my surprised as I heard the crunch and my charater fell flat. bushwackAR15
The Mole-Rat pup you kill today, won't sneak up & bit you on the @ss tomorrow!
secksegai
First thing that comes to mind with molerats is the molerat "repellant" stick from FO3. I miss that thing. But never felt guilt over molerats - anything that has the gaul to attack me (and isn't the result of bugged behavior) is going to die. If my rep isn't enough warning, or they're actually close enough to see my rifle, the attacker should just know better. My character can wipe out every living thing on the map, yet chooses diplomacy whenever possible since my characters simply want everyone who can get along to get along. I do end up getting animal friend eventually as well, as it means less ammo to waste =)
