Linden wondered why the spell did not detect any enemies. "It didn't feel like it backfired.... "

Keeping her bow knocked just in case the intruder hasn't left, she trots over to Alenee. "I think our shadowy friend has retreated for now. He does not have the feel of being an enemy though." She sees that Alenee has found rope and torches.

"Ah, good. I think we should camp for the night and look at this hole under the morning sun. What sat you?"

"So," Melisande says. "Let's look at what we've got. Two men who were stealing from the dig, a pendant that is black and white with a dragon, and a note to Felecor that refers to a spot where Melias will rest." She looks at the rest of the party. "So, what do we get when we put them together? A question. What if we take them singly?"

"If we look at the seperatley we have two men stealing from the dig, a pendant, and a note to whoever Felecor is." Helstar grimaces.

"well, the pendant is probably a coat of arms of some kind... and the note refering to where Melias's grave will be. The two men may just be common thieves who stole the pendant from someone, but I doubt that..." Helstar trails off into thought.

"Is there a site already chosen for where the king will rest? If so... And perhaps we could show the medallion to someone who might know, in a city perhaps? And - if I join you will you let me have some more food?"

He then thinks about Melisande's remark and frowns. "Or were you saying we should each take one clue and split up?"

Having talked to no one for months, the later idea does not greatly appeal to him. But as long as they can meet up again soon to talk and eat...

"I don't know much about the heraldry stuff, and I don't think it's a good idea to split up." Melisande says, rubbing her still sore ribs. "I think the only real clue we have here is the pendant - what if we trace it back to whoever gave it? We're here on the hill of kings, the site we're talking about can't be too far from here." She turns to Tiemmo. "You can have all the food you want. You are welcome to join us. As it was your actions that saved me, I would be honored if you would accept a part of my share, you too Krixox."

Alenee doesn't let her attention leave the retreating man until he is far away and out of sight. Finally, she relaxes her hold on her pike a bit. "You're probably right... at least he's not the one behind this... too incompetent. Someone with invisible soldiers should at least be able to sneak better than the average child in my homeland. But even so, I don't like him."

"As for camping, you're probably right. I'm not too tired, I'll take first watch. Get some sleep, you look like you need it." Alenee drops the rope and torches on the ground nearby, and picks a guard position with a good view of the area to spend the next few hours.

He returns to his cabin and begins to prepare for the walk in the morning, thinking to himself "those people are way to jumpy, dont they know the only dangers out here are common thieves, I wouldnt call the thieves dangerous but still, they really need to calm down, that fight scared my dinenr away, damn outsiders" He finishes putting on his armor and attaches his sword and daggers, putting his quiver on his back and holding his bow he blows out the light in his cabin. He makes his way back to the construction site, about half way there he hops into a tree and waits for some innoccent animal to walk by to feed him.

Linden looks to Alenee. "It is too early to make any judgements on our shadowman. He might just be a local checking out the disturbances going on. No matter... I agree with you that he's not part of the invisible miners. We'll have to wait and see."

She stretches and then sits down. "Thanks for taking the first watch. Wake me in four hours or if you can't stay awake longer." With that said, she places her weapons beside her, wraps herself up in her cloak, mumbles a few prayers and falls asleep.

Alenee and Linden

The morning glow begins to lighten the eastern sky, and it's the quiet time; after the nocturnal creatures have crawled into their lairs and before the daylight dwellers have emerged from theirs. In the workcamp just a short distance from you, some early risers have begun to set up for the day's work. There has been no sign of your earlier 'guest'.

Juoko

It is not a good night for hunting around the hill. For some reason, it hasn't been a good night for hunting for the past several nights. As the first light of dawn comes, you are still preyless.
