Bengt looks at Linden, "Do you have the same feeling about this place as your friend?" He asks, pointing at Alenee. "As far as I'm concerned, a look won't do anyone any harm. If it's already been opened, whatever could have gotten out would have, right?" He begins to move earnestly toward the hole. Again, he tightens up his collar against a perceived cold. "You have the torches and everything already here? Good work! That's the way to take the initiative!"

Warrick looks at your group, then back to Melisande. "Royal implications? In that case I should go and get him immediately. Please, make yourself comfortable. I'm afraid there aren't a lot of creature comforts here, but I'll be back with Lord Reevelord presently" He opens the door to the structure and lets you inside.

The inside of the building is rough in construction. Large dark beams intersperse an otherwise white ceiling, about 8' above the floor. The walls of the 20'x20' structure are made of the same construction materials. There are several tables and desks within, all strewn with diagrams and maps, with notes written in margins and timelines that all have "We're falling behind!" scrawled across them. There are exactly two wooden chairs and one stool to sit on.

Linden smiles at Reevelord. "I think we need to take a look down that hole - at least to make sure that it is safe for you and your workers down there. Unfortunately, we cannot shrink to the size of the Fair Folk and go through yon hole in the ground. "

"I was thinking of lowering a torch down the hole with twine to see if it was a shaft or a chamber. If you know a better way to handle this, I'd be happy to hear it."

"You're probably right about that," Alenee replies to Bengt's comment. "Well, for this room at least. But just to be sure, I'd seal all this up when we're done... at least until we've proven all those rumors of ancient evil wrong." She turns to address Jouko. "Alright, I'm willing to call it bad first introductions and let you stay. But prove my trust wrong and you'll be lucky if death is all you get." She pauses a moment, then looks at him with a bit of suspicion. "So if you're so sorry to follow an evil god... do you have so little free will that you can't even think for yourself Or do you just like the darker side of things?"

Alenee can't hold back a laugh at that last part. "So what you're saying is that you're evil and we shouldn't trust you? Should I arrange an early meeting between you and him?" Her hand drops eagerly to the katana at her side.

"i believe thou should remove thy hands from the katana" He speaks gripping the handle of his own sword, "If i was evil i would have killed you long ago, but since you seem to be standing i guess that proves im not, So i worship an evil god its means nothing about the person, this god has provided safe travel through the years for my family"

Standing on the high part of the roof, you attach the twine to the torch, light it, and lower it down into the hole, what you can see from standing around the outside of the indentation in the roof is that it opens up into an area, with a floor about 15' below the roof. Any more definitive identification of what is below will warrant closer inspection.

This time Alenee fails completely at hiding her ammusement. "So let me get this right... you follow an evil god, but you're not evil? Now I must question either the sincerity of your worship or your sanity, or perhaps is it both?" Again, a laugh escapes her control. "Oh well, I guess life's fatal anyway.... might as well keep you around for the entertainment!" She turns and walks back to the hole. At the sight of the less than revealing view, she retrieves a pick and starts poking at the edges of the hole, looking for a weak spot that she could open to get down.
