"Both of you are acting like ill-behaved children and I'll have it stop right now." Looking over to Alenee, " Alenee, we have shed blood together and protected each other's backs in battle. For me that is a sacred trust given and received. For the sake of that bond, please cease this senseless prattle. I know that you do not trust this man, but I believe that the gods have put him here for a reason.... and that reason was probably not to torment you. Aye, you should be wary of him, but for a time he walks the same path as us." Swing over to Jouko she says in a ringing voice, "...And you, sir, stop with your needling and taunting. Your actions have been suspect from the beginning. Since you have arrived, you have done nothing to aid in our job here at this site. Second, you have never explained your intentions nor why you are here. Master Reevelord has not hired you (as he did us) and you have not explained your business here. I need to know this now or you may take your things and leave. And as to you following an evil god, well that is your choice. You say that you were born under an evil sign. I say to you 'who cares?' It is by your actions that you will be judged - on earth and by the lords of heaven or the foul denizens of the pits. Do not use the gods as an excuse for your petty behavior. Jouko Posted November 20, 2003 Share Posted November 20, 2003 He stares wide eye at the woman " My my so be it then" He crouches down and picks up the pick-axe on the ground, he rushes over to the hole and drops his sword and the axe by it, he then proceeds in removing his armor down to his shirt and pants, he picks the axe back up and begins picking at the rock around the hole. Kethruch Posted November 20, 2003 Author Share Posted November 20, 2003 Alenee, Jouko, LindenJune 5, 1048 0725 As Alenee begins to prod, and Jouko begins to get ready to pick, a man comes up to Bengt and whispers into his ear. "Why can't I ever have any fun." He says, then turns to the three of you. "One of the unfortunate things about being in a position of responsibility is that you must occasionally act that way. Please see what is in the chamber, and I will be back as soon as possible." He walks away with the man who came to him. A couple of minutes later, the picking and prodding has begun. As Alenee prods into a crack, there is a rumble, and at the same time, a section of the roof caves, taking Alenee and Jouko with it. When the dust clears, it becomes apparent that a 10' square section of the roof has fallen in. Linden is left on top standing on the very edge of the hole. Jouko's right leg is very sore, as is Alenee's right arm. There does not seem to be any large amounts of blood in the area. There is a lot of dust in the area, and the rocks that once were the roof litter the floor. HelstarJune 5, 1048 0710As you begin looking over the papers that seem to cover every surface in the room, you notice that there are a lot of notes that seem to be written in a sort of odd language - not one that you recognize. Emry Posted November 20, 2003 Share Posted November 20, 2003 At the first sound of the rumble, Linden flings herself to the ground. When the dust finally settles, she peers over the edge. "Alenee, Jouko, are you two alright?" Since she can see them moving about, she tells them to hang on. She gets up and starts giving orders to the workers in a commanding voice. "Alright you, you and you! Get over here now!" pointing to three hapless peasants. Pointing to one she says, "I need you to go find Lord Reevelord and tell him that there has been a cave in. We're going to need timbers to shore up that ceiling before more falls in. He went that a way....MOVE IT!.... More calmly, "You other two, is there a ladder around here? It had to be a minimum of 16 feet. I'd rather use a ladder to get back up than a knotted rope. If you know where one is, I'd appreciate it " Taking the heavier rope that Alenee brought earlier, she quickly ties off some knots for footing, secures the rope to a nearby tree throws down the rope and climbs down. It is easier to have a little bit of evidence when trying to get facts out of another." He finds a piece of writing in the strange language and looks to see what the others think. Jouko Posted November 20, 2003 Share Posted November 20, 2003 "Well that was a fall", stands up and relizes his leg is broken, "Blast my luck", he steadies himself on Alenee and looks for his boots, (they work well as splints), "Arg i bet the didnt fall with us, wheres my sword at" He begins looking for his sword. They arrive with all sorts of lengths of rope, and one of them has the idea of putting them together to form a rope ladder. "Sorry, milady" he calls to Linden. "It's going to be the best we can do." After a moment, Jouko realizes that his leg is not broken, but badly bruised. He can put weight on it, though he will be walking with a limp. His boots and sword are nearby. All of Peregrine's weapons and equipment seem to be intact. A quick inventory reveals that except for some small tears in fabric items, everything, including her, seem to be all right. Linden climbs down to find the two picking themselves up. The dust that is still filtering down still stings the eyes, though it is rapidly clearing. Helstar, Tiemmo, Melisande, and KrixoxJune 5, 1048 0715 There are plenty of samples to choose from, and there is a book that seems to be titled in the same, strange script.
